SHOPPING With more than 100 designer and outlet stores, including names like Eddie Bauer, Maurice’s and more, Woodburn Premium Outlets just off Interstate 5 is the largest outlet center in the Pacific Northwest. Popular brands, skylight-covered walkways and beautiful architecture and landscaping make it one of Oregon’s top visitor destinations. Bakeries and restaurants feature cuisine from many regions, and specialty shops offer meats, spices, and imported groceries, along with gifts, clothing, and Spanish-language music and movies. Woodburn retailers range from national retail giants like Walmart Supercenter to regional favorites like Coastal Farm & Home Supply. There are several shopping centers including Mid-Valley Plaza and the Safeway Shopping Center at the intersection of Highways 99E and 214. Transportation Land: Woodburn is located on Interstate 5, 30 miles south of Portland and 17 miles north of Salem. It is also served by state highways 99E, 211, and 214, and the Southern Pacific Railroad. Woodburn Transit System and Greyhound Bus provide convenient bus service and on-demand transportation. Air & Water: Woodburn is one hour south of the Portland International Airport and the Port of Portland; 15 minutes south of the regional Aurora State Airport. English, Spanish and Russian influences are evident not only in language, but in food, religion, music and dress. This mix is leveraged in innovative programs that prepare students for a multi-lingual, multi-cultural world. The District has divided the high school into four smaller schools for more personal involvement, and offers the prestigious International Baccalaureate Program. The Gervais School District with more than 1,100 students has received acclaim for its classroom innovations like the “Success for All” program in the primary schools, integrated technology including wireless networking and laptop computers, and high academic standards that include college courses.
