Set in six hundred acres of beautiful rolling farmland just outside Matamata, Mapperley Stud boasts a rich thoroughbred history and stands as a testament to passion, dedication and a deep love for horses.

Nestled amidst rolling hills and lush pastures, Mapperley Stud is renowned for giving young thoroughbreds the best start to life. Famous for its large, undulating paddocks that raised the likes of group one champions So You Think, Dundeel and Brutal, the Mapperley brand has gained recognition and international acclaim around the world.

Our stallion roster is very important to us and we take great pride in offering New Zealand breeders access to proven stallions and exciting young stallion prospects who could be the future stars of our industry. Mapperley Stud has combined forces again with long term associates Windsor Park to secure brilliant group one winning son of sire sensation Deep Impact – Profondo

An outstanding looking individual, Profondo was a A$1.9 million sales topper who achieved the ultimate success winning the stallion making group one Spring Champion Stakes at just his third career start. The Spring Champion Stakes is well-known as a sire making race, previous winners include Champion sire Savabeel and Dundeel, while leading New Zealand sire Proisir finished second in the race.

Out of the two year-old stakes-winning Redoute’s Choice mare Honesty Prevails, she has proven to be worth her weight in gold as a broodmare, producing three outstanding foals who have all sold for more than a million dollars individually.

As soon as we announced he was retiring to stud in New Zealand, breeders were attracted to him instantly and his full book sign went up within days, signalling his tantalising stallion appeal. Brilliantly talented and physically gifted, we are super excited about Profondo’s future stud career.

Contributer, our longest serving stallion has had a season to remember, producing five individual stakes winners from only forty-four runners to the track. Now a proven commodity in our stallion ranks, Contributer continues to achieve great results on the racetrack and in the sales ring. With his best and largest crops to hit the racetrack in next couple of seasons, the future looks bright for our Champion son of High Chaparral.

We were absolutely thrilled with the level of support Armory received from breeders in his first year at stud. Breeders gravitated to his high-class group one race performances and depth of pedigree to make him the most popular first season sire of 2022. We are all now eagerly awaiting the arrival of his first foals this season, which is a tremendously exciting time for our stud and the breeders who supported him in his first season.

Puccini and Savile Row bolster our stallion roster in 2023, providing breeders affordable access to some of the most desired bloodlines in the world. Puccini continues to perform admirably as a young sire, with great strike rates and the ability to produce classic 3 year-olds such as group one performers
