The year 2022 was a fruitful one at MAP International. Because of God’s provision for us through our faithful donors, partners, staff, and volunteers, we were able to reach more people than ever before with health and hope for the future.

As you read the highlights of 2022 in this report, we hope you will join us in praising God for His provision – for us, and for the millions of people that we serve. And as we enter the new year with expectation, we hope you will share our excitement for what is to come.

Our vision is to double MAP’s impact around the globe within the next five years. To that end, we are doubling our warehouse space in 2023 so that we can increase the amount of medicine, health supplies, and disaster relief supplies that we are able to distribute around the world.

MAP could not reach this level of growth without the dedicated work of our Board Chair. For the last five years, Jim Barfoot has stood at the helm of our Board of Directors and has led us boldly through many challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic. After four years of faithful service, Jim is stepping down from his role as Board Chair.

Jim is a dependable man and an outstanding leader. He has been an integral part of advancing MAP’s mission globally and has helped lay the foundation for our vision of expansion. We are profoundly grateful for the work he has done, and we are indebted to him for his selfless service to MAP.

Assuming the role of Board Chair is Susan Roeder. Susan is a retired CPA who serves as the liaison for partners in ten nations through the global ministry of her local church, has over two decades of experience doing “hands-on” mission work in many corners of the world, and has faithfully served on MAP’s Board of Directors for over 6 years.

“It is an immense privilege to serve as the Board Chair while MAP is on the cusp of such significant expansion. As a MAP board member, I have watched time and time again as God provided for our needs as an organization, and I look forward to having a front row seat to His provision in the future.”

As we celebrate the way God used MAP to bring hope for a better future to millions of people in 2022, we wait with eager expectation to see how He is going to expand our capacity to bring hope to even more people in 2023.

A message from our President & CEO, and Board Chair

2023 Warehouse Expansion Project

Through a collaborative network of donors, partners, staff, and volunteers, MAP International distributed more than $700 million worth of life-changing medicine and health supplies to over 86 countries.

Now, MAP has a vision to double our impact by 2028. However, this goal will only be attainable with the expansion of our warehouse facilities. MAP’s current 40,000 square feet of warehouse space is beyond capacity. In order to expand our worldwide impact, we need to also expand the space where we receive, store, and prepare our donated medicine and health supplies for distribution.

In December 2022, MAP celebrated the groundbreaking for a new warehouse facility that will provide an additional 43,000 square feet of storage space next to our existing warehouse and distribution center in Brunswick, Georgia.

Scheduled for completion before the end of 2023, this new facility will more than double MAP’s distribution center capacity – and with it, our capacity to help more people in the years to come.

Bringing Children Health Program (BCH) is a targeted initiative of MAP International to increase global health equity for access to antibiotics for children in need.

In response, MAP International is partnering with several clinics in seven states to improve access to life-changing medicine for people with chronic conditions like asthma, hypertension, Type I & II Diabetes, and high cholesterol.

MAP’s Domestic Medicine Program (DMP)

LEBANON

Lebanon is facing a healthcare crisis caused by an economic collapse in 2019. Medicine is so scarce that patients are rationing their medication or taking nothing at all. This is leading to preventable severe health issues and even death.

In 2022, MAP worked with a partner in Lebanon to send shipments of prenatal vitamins, antibiotics, and medicines for patients who suffer from chronic conditions like asthma and diabetes. By providing access to these essential medicines, our hope is that people will not be forced to choose between their health and putting food on the table.

LIBERIA

Over 50% of Liberia’s population live in poverty, and approximately 90% lack access to consistently safe drinking water. With few resources, illness and disease are widespread.

Last year, MAP sent a regular shipment of health supplies and prenatal vitamins to the John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Liberia. In addition to these supplies, this particular shipment also included medicines for the treatment of cancer and mental health conditions. All medicines are important, but medicines like these are also saving and transforming lives for Liberians in need.

UKRAINE

It has been a year since Russia invaded Ukraine and sparked a humanitarian catastrophe, leaving over 42,000 people dead and more than 50,000 injured. As the conflict continues, a staggering 14 million Ukrainians have been forced to flee their homes because of the violence. Over the last year, MAP has responded to the crisis by sending 38 shipments of essential medicine and supplies to Ukraine. These shipments have included 8 Interagency Emergency Health Kits, each containing enough medicines and supplies to serve 10,000 people for 90 days, as well as over 35,000 Disaster Health Kits.

GUATEMALA

ETHIOPIA

A violent civil war and widespread famine has placed a significant burden on Ethiopia’s healthcare system. The resulting shortage of medicine is having devastating effects on people’s lives.

MAP is collaborating with a partner to distribute autoimmune, rheumatoid arthritis, and antimigraine medications to hospitals that serve the rural population of Eastern Ethiopia, with the goal of long-term impact on the health and hope of Ethiopians.

Preeclampsia is a treatable high blood pressure disorder that can occur during pregnancy. However, due to the lack of access to basic prenatal and delivery care, expectant mothers in Guatemala are experiencing the highest mortality rate in Latin America.

Last summer, MAP delivered a shipment containing 2,000 patient treatments of medicine used to treat preeclampsia to our partner in Guatemala. This shipment also contained 58,000 patient treatments of prenatal vitamins, because all people – no matter how young –deserve the chance to live life to the fullest.

Where there is dire need, MAP is there.
