A shell formed by two extended, tilted levels, defines the recess where a significant stop on the journey, which is conceptually defined as a sequence of movements and stops, is protected. The dual character of the shell, its small opening in its communication with the external environment, its clear and emblematic form reflect our mood for the metonymic approach of these notions to the practice of architecture. Starting from the concept of protection and in conjunction with the marine environment of a passenger maritime station, we have inevitably reached the archaetetic shell of protection in the marine environment, the shell.
