The ancient principals of Vedic architecture are deep, practical, and scientific. They are as applicable today as they were thousands of years ago. These principals are equally as applicable to commercial establishments as much to residences. Vedic architecture identifies zones of space-energy according to directions based on the sun's path and earth's magnetic field. Each zone of space-energy is governed by a ruling planet that lends its attributes to that particular zone. This knowledge can be used to reap maximum benefits out of the space being utilized. Since the use of space is different in a residence than it is in a business setting, some zones gain prominence in a residence but not so in a business facility and vice versa. Broadly, the following can be said for businesses, though individual analysis is required because the type of industry also matters.
North-East (Ishanya)
This zone is ruled by Jupiter. It facilitates meditation, spiritual progress, and generosity and imbibes the quality of equanimity. These qualities afford a great value for a residence, but are not beneficial for business establishments. A business does not thrive on a passive outlook. A businessman/woman needs to be assertive and also aggressive at times, result-oriented, and able to plan for long-term growth. The most important decision-making people within an organization should therefore never be in this zone as there will be a lack of leadership and wasted efforts. This is inherently a weak zone for businesses that want to thrive and grow. North-East direction is best suited for entrances, reception areas, visitors seating etc. This zone is also perfect for quiet contemplation and study rooms or libraries.

South-East (Agneya)
This zone is ruled by Venus and is the zone of precision, creative endeavor and focused work. This is a good zone for the accounting department or for general staff of the organization. In a hospital, this zone is excellent for minute surgical procedures. This is also a good location for machine rooms, equipment, heaters, boilers, and so on because the fire element is located in this zone. The energies of fire are cleansing but full of heat and therefore a conference room in the southeast is not a good idea since it will un-necessary create hot-tempered conflicts. For schools and libraries, this zone is excellent for science labs or for art studios to practicing the precision skills such as music and dance. In a nutshell, the SouthEast zone facilitates creativity in any field with micro-efficiency.
South-West (Nairutya)
This zone is ruled by Rahu and is responsible for financial stability, vision, and overall progress of the organization. This is the most important zone for today's corporate culture. The best position for the head of the company or for anyone making important decisions within the organization should always be SW. This zone is responsible for dynamic long term planning and implementation. A person occupying this zone will always have his/her say within the organization and others must yield. This is also a good location for lockers and vaults.
North-West (Vayawya)
This zone is ruled by the Moon and is responsible for new and eccentric ideas. This, however, is the zone of ideas only and not long term visions. The head of an organization occupying this zone will be full of creative ideas, but will lack the strong willpower needed to implement them. Northwest is the zone for air element that renders a lot of mobility as well as restlessness to the mind of the person occupying this zone. Therefore, it is best suited for conference rooms and marketing departments, where creative solutions can be thought out for increased productivity of the business. One should brainstorm in Vayawya and implement from Nairutya. For a manufacturing facility, the ready to ship products should be stocked in this zone since the Air element will facilitate their quick sale.
