Owners David Spatafore and Leroy Mossel were ready for a new concept after several years of success with other restaurants on the island. They wanted to take it to the next level, and that meant retiring the Beach-N-Diner to make way for Leroy’s Kitchen + Lounge. executive Chef Greg Chavez joined the team at Leroy’s, creating new menus, visiting local farms, planning wine and beer pairing events, and being part of a team that wants to put Leroy’s on the map well beyond Coronado. With sixteen beers on tap, ten of which are local; craft cocktails; and a seasonally driven menu that changes weekly, and sometimes daily based on what inspires Chef Chavez, Leroy’s has a welcoming atmosphere that’s both casual and comfortable. Musical talent performs in the restaurant weekly and art from local artists that rotates monthly is featured throughout and offered for purchase. Chef Chavez likes to use sustainable, local, and organic ingredients, saying he wouldn’t have it any other way. “I love the power of food and how it brings people together. I love being able to create different dishes and work with local farmers, ranchers, and fishermen,” he says. “I enjoy watching my kitchen team grow by helping them develop new techniques and identifying new products.
