Please introduce yourself briefly!

Hello. I am Hyeri Kim, an education trainee who attended Songgok Tourism High School in 2021. I am a Kyunghee University Graduate School of Education student, majoring in Commerce Education. So, while I was at Songgok Tourism High School, I taught Accounting Principles, and I was in charge of the 4th class of the second grade.

Tell us about your first impression of Songgok Tourism High School.

First, I thought the students were bright, cheerful, and innocent. And that first impression lasted until the very end, and I thought, perhaps, that these students are so pure as time goes by. So, thanks to that, I became a person who, under the influence of students, thinks positively together and tries to radiate bright energy during educational practice. At the same time, I did not want to harm the cheerful atmosphere, so I strengthened my will to treat students more responsibly.

Please tell me what classes you take in college and your activities.

My major is business administration, but overall, business administration has an extensive range of learning. There is even a nickname “Mixed-soup-department” among students in the same department because they learn based on theories and knowledge of different disciplines. Psychology theory, law theory, economic theory, statistics theory. In this way, you can learn the studies and theories of various departments little by little. The detailed curriculum may vary from university to university. Still, the curriculum consisted of personnel organization, marketing, production management, financial management, international management, and accounting at the university I attended.

College activities include various things, such as course activities, club activities, external activities, exchange students, and interns, as you might expect. There are so many activities that I don’t dare to list here, but few college students take care of them. When you come to college, you take care of everything by yourself when you become an adult, so if you have something you want to do, you can find it yourself and do such activities.

Lastly, please say anything or advice to students who want to go to school or get a job!

Whether it’s employment or going to school, I want to let you know that dreams can continue to change, and that’s natural. That’s why I don’t want you to be embarrassed or frustrated by the change of dreams and the disappearance of your original goal. Changing dreams is such a natural phenomenon. I’m much older than you. My dreams are changing. Ha-ha, your age is much younger than you think, so even if your goals for the future change thousands of times, it’s never a late decision. What if I’m late again? I think it only needs to arrive appropriately and accurately. So, don’t be in a hurry, and instead, I think you can grind and polish yourself more closely, sharper than others, delicate and firm.

What was the most memorable thing you did while at Songgok Tourism High School?

All the times I spent with the students was truly memorable. Before coming to practice, I was worried about my role in demonstrating myself. At lunchtime, I enjoyed chatting with my students in the classroom. We strolled up to the beautiful small hill behind the school campus in the first week. We took group photos together under the cherry blossoms in the background. I consulted with each student for an hour. On the last day as a teacher-trainee, they surprised me with a short farewell party for me. We exchanged gifts with each other. All these things remain unforgettable memories.

I am curious about your high school life.

I came from an academic high school and was one of the students who had the most stress on the entrance exam than anyone else. Compared to Songgok Tourism High School students, I seem to have lived a very depressed and lackluster life. At that time, I was studying for a better future, but I was not happy at all.
