Label issues saw his sophomore project ‘Love For Sale’ shelved but mysteriously leaked giving his dedicated fans ‘Something To Hold On To’ before he released ‘Airtight’s Revenge’ in 2010 and most recently ‘A Love Surreal’. CHUCK INGLISH PLUS NEGASH ALI & THE42

One half of Chicago rap duo The Cool Kids, Chuck Inglish is a rapper, producer and DJ. His sound could be described as future boom-bap beats with golden-era rhymes and is one that has been imitated but rarely matched since The Cool Kids first burst onto the scene with ‘Black Mags’ in 2007, for this reason he gains more respect than the majority of the “Nu School” artists. He recently dropped a new free mixtape entitled ‘Drop Tops’ ahead of his debut London show and his next LP ‘Convertibles’.

THE EGG

PLUS SOPHIE BARKER & HER BAND The Egg bring their massive live electronic, rock, funk and house inspired dance show to The Jazz Cafe off the back of the release of their new LP ‘Something To Do’. HENRI-PIERRE NOEL

+ THE GENE DUDLEY GROUP - LIVE ALBUM LAUNCH! PLUS SPECIAL GUEST DJ THE REFLEX AND WAH WAH 45S DJS DOM SERVINI, SCRIMSHIRE & BOPPERSON

On moving to Canada from his original home of Haïti, pianist and singer/songwriter Henri-Pierre Noel brought with him the “Kompa Funk” sounds of his homeland. He is an incredibly versatile musician who uses the piano in a very percussive and syncopated way, almost like a drum. Henri’s albums recorded in the late 1970’s ‘Piano’ and ‘One More Step’ were released on very limited private presses and have since become holy grails of the black music scene. They have now been re-released on Dom Servini’s Wah Wah 45s and re-discovered by a new generation.

THE FABULOUS THUNDERBIRDS For over 30 years The Fabulous Thunderbirds have been the quintessential American band. Co-founder Kim Wilson, the sole original member, still spearheads the group as it evolves into its newest incarnation. In addition to Wilson, the current Thunderbirds line-up features Jay Moeller on drums, Johnny Moeller and Mike Keller on guitar, and Randy Bermudes on bass. Of the T-Birds sound Wilson says “We started as a straight blues band. We now incorporate a mixture of a lot of different styles and we’re much higher energy than we were before.” This show marks the bands first London appearance in over 7 years FABULOUSTHUNDERBIRDS.COM

Influenced by the classic song craft of Prince, Heatwave and Kool & The Gang, the members of Tortured Soul are three distinctive guys with three different backgrounds, united under a groove-centered rhythm. The band’s frontman and principal songwriter, John-Christian Urich, can be seen simultaneously drumming and singing with effortless mastery, keyboardist Ethan White and bassist Jordan Scannella, generate the pulsating accompaniment. THE SOULJAZZ ORCHESTRA Canada’s hardest-working super-group, the Souljazz Orchestra, have been perfecting their signature sound for over a decade now: a percussive explosion of Soul, Jazz, Afro, Latin and Caribbean rhythms, driven by majestic horn-drenched melodies, all backed by an arsenal of overheated primitive keyboards. Now celebrating their 10th year, the Souljazz Orchestra continue their impressive run of memorable albums. Breaking through on Toronto label Do Right!, Freedom No Go Die (2006, featuring the huge single ‘Mista President’) and Manifesto (2008) set the bar high. Rising Sun (2010), their first album with Strut Records, was subsequently recognised as a landmark in deep, spiritual Afro Jazz. LOUIE VEGA & THE ELEMENTS OF LIFE FEATURING JOSH MILAN, ANANE VEGA, LISA FISCHER, JOSE MANGUAL

Performing for the first time in London since 2005, The Jazz Cafe is honoured to present legendary producer Louie Vega’s critically acclaimed live orchestral project. The album was release in March 2013, and is the first new artist album Fania has released in years. The Album showcases 17 brand new tracks from Elements Of Life that tastefully traverse the sounds of Afrobeat, Jazz, Latin, R&B, Gospel, Soul, Blues, Brazilian and World Music all woven with the golden touch of Grammy Award winning Producer/Artist/DJ Louie Vega. The second disc includes “EOL Soulfrito” an homage to Fania Records through interpretations and remixes of classic Fania songs performed by the Elements Of Life in a 33-minute sound collage as well as six more bonus tracks.

Louie Vega connected with the legendary Fania Records after doing a smash club remix of his uncle Hector Lavoe’s “Mi Gente” track back in 2008. Vega concludes, “It’s a true honor for me to be the first new artist album signed to Fania in years. It really comes full circle now, being able to be on the label my uncle Hector Lavoe was on and the Fania All Stars who are also great inspirations for me. Fania Records is to Latin music what Motown is to R&B and Soul, so to be even a small page in this encyclopedia of music is a dream come true for me.”
