RIVER FLOW SERVICE
works in our first term in office. To be fair, Canterbury saw huge infrastructure investment after the earthquakes when, at that time, the National government chose to prioritise our region over others around the country to reboot our own economy. So, to get our ducks in a row, I have had our transport team visit the region several times to view the road and meet with stakeholders and we all agree the job needs to be done, we must reinvestigate the pricing and sequencing of the build in the most responsible way that we can. If we can form the next government, we are determined to be far more careful with taxpayer money than Labour has been to ensure the sustainable financing of world-class, future-proofed transport infrastructure. I see this road as a significantly important local issue, and I will continue to champion it on behalf of Selwyn residents.

Want to keep an eye on river levels and water flow in your area? You can, with text message services from Ecan and Selwyn District Council that also cover rainfall data and irrigation restrictions.
Selwyn District Council offers a free river flow service for residents living in the Selwyn River/Waikirikiri floodplain. To sign up, text SELWYN to 3730.
A text will be sent to everyone who registers to the service when the river flow reaches a certain level. When a text is received, users are advised to monitor the river flow on ecan.govt.nz/riverflow and take action as needed.
Ecan’s website says that river levels presented are provisional only, telemetered twice daily from remote monitoring stations and could misrepresent the immediate state of the river. In other words, be aware as river levels can change quickly. To find out about other rivers in Canterbury, visit www.ecan.govt.nz/your-region/your-environment/water/riverreport/. Note: there is a small cost for using the Ecan service.

Finally! Some good conditions for this month’s shoot with good light from behind and very little wind. Numbers were a bit low due to conflicting events, however still a good turnout. Not so good for the scores in the eye-opener with just two scores of 20/20, both in A grade with a 19 in B grade and a 16 leading C grade. Second up was the Continental Cup with the targets at differing heights as well as angles. Possible 25/25’s were recorded by “Mr Smooth “ Dave Folley, Paul Templeton, Brodie Mangels and Bevan Brown. A good group for the shoot-off. Lastly, another Continental match to be combined with the first to give a 50-target match for the meat prizes. Johnny Sharp scored the only possible to lift into the top group along with three 24’s to Dave, Brodie, and Bevan to give four shooters on 49/50, Paul unfortunately on the outer after dropping two targets.
Some good shooting was shown by two junior shooters Anna Mangels who improved over the day after a 4/20 to start shot scores of 11/25 and 16/25 in the Continental. Luka Ruddenklau scored 19/25 and 16/25 to finish second in the C grade.

The meat trophy shoot-off with Brodie out on target 2, Dave taking third after missing target 6. Last to miss was Johnny as target 7 sorted out 1st and 2nd A grade with Bevan holding on to win.
The last shoot-off was between Emma Stuart and Rupert Wright for the minor placings in B grade. Five targets were required to separate the two with Rupert emerging the winner.
Next shoot Sunday 3rd September 12:30pm start. All welcome.
