Hauaro Produce A Year on

Approximately a year ago, Hann Harvest changed ownership from Jason and Anne Hann to Ed and Kate Hobson. The business is now known as Hauora Produce and they are still producing delicious berries. Hauora means health in Māori, the pair want to produce high quality, delicious and healthy produce. They felt the name aligned with their values and what they were wanting to achieve, so felt this was the perfect new name for the business. Ed grew up in Te Pirita on a family farm, attending Hororata Primary before being shipped off to boarding school. He has always worked in or around the agriculture sector, attending Lincoln University and has held various jobs since with the eventual aim of business ownership. Kate grew up on a family farm outside Southbridge, attending Southbridge Primary School and Ellesmere College before her family relocated to Oxford. She is a nurse by trade but has always been interested in agriculture and horticulture. Both Ed and Kate have no major background in horticulture but have always had green fingers and a taste for strawberries. The pair are blown away by the local support and fantastic positive comments they have received this past year. “It can be absolute chaos at times, but Anne and Jase have been wonderful, and our team of staff and support networks have been a huge help,” commented Ed. “There have been no major changes just yet, it has been business as usual. But watch this space in the future,” Ed concluded.
