To the Editor: I read with dismay the Greens, supported by the Labour Government have introduced under urgency a supplementary order paper as a further amendment to the already divisive Three Waters Legislation that will, if adopted, lock in the ownership to others of our assets and associated water resources in perpetuity, with only a majority of 60% of parliament being able to overturn any legislation. The latter being a very difficult and unlikely scenario. This is proof positive and a clear admission by the Labour Government that we have no rights or interest in the assets that have been essentially stolen from ratepayers. This ill thought through entrenchment is of real concern not only for this particular legislation but for any future change that an out of control government wants to make. We should all be very concerned at this latest crushing of democratic rights and denegation of our constitutional protection. I urge all ratepayers and those who might want to save what’s left of our democratic rights, to communicate urgently with our Councillors and Member of Parliament and urge them to make every effort to fight against this serious breach of trust. Ian Lees, Darfield. To the Editor: Please pass this message on to All Households on Selwyn Gets Ready. Are you on a council water supply? To the Editor: I would like to make a correction to the Sheffield Fire Brigade Awards Night piece from last week that was supplied by myself. It was actually Sheffield Springfield Netball that served the meal, cleared tables and did the dishes, which we would like to thank. Also it was SFF Myles Gordon that received a Silver Bar for 11 years service, not Gordon Myles. Nev Croy, Sheffield. What an opportunity to come and live in the country in this very desirable area.
