Kirwee Players 'Singin 'in the Rain’, is a nostalgic trip to a time of slapstick comedy and big song and dance numbers. Directed by Ex-Darfield High pupil, Kelsea NelsonCummins in her debut adult show, she enlisted the talents of local farmer and theatre aficionado, Don Gillanders, to bring the rain to the stage. This technical show has seen many firsts for Kirwee Players, including the use of radio mics for the leads. Trying to sing above the noise of the tap dancing needed a boost, so they were lucky to be able to borrow some from Centrestage, as well as some costumes from North Canterbury. The Opening Night Gala saw many of the theatre goers dressing up in their finest 1920’s outfits and mingling with the cast and crew after the show. Linda Burr of Darfield said, “it was absolutely fabulous from start to finish. A very well cast show”. Terry Richardson of West Melton was so enthralled and encourages people to “come along and lose yourself in the magic of the show.” Ray and Jean Salisbury (who both appeared in the very first Kirwee Players show in 1977) said, “the show was wonderful and brought back many memories.” Sue Eason (a previous musical director) said, “it was a stunningly polished show with amazing dancing and singing. A total must see!” Jeremy and Izzy Tocker and Suzannah Bugden felt the show was stunning. Jeremy said, “the only time I frowned was to rest my face from too much smiling. There is never a dull moment”. The Show is currently being performed from August 10th - 13th. So don’t miss out, get your tickets from www.trybooking.com now!

Mark Darbyshire, Dervansh Patel and Ezra Sharp took the opportunity to have a photo with leading man Scott Christie (Don Lockwood). They were in agreement that the show was just charming and made them a bit teary eyed.
