Malvern Community Patrol
The Malvern Community Patrol took delivery of their new Hybrid RAV4 Patrol Vehicle last weekend. “We would particularly like to thank the generous community support which has made this purchase possible,” commented Harvey Polglase Patrol Chairman. “A grant was also received from the Four Winds Foundation and the Malvern Lions Club donated funds from their recent well supported Golf Tournament which also included generous sponsorship from individuals. and local businesses. “The Patrol, with more than thirty members, works closely with local Police to provide regular night and day patrols covering Kirwee, Darfield, Greendale, Hororata, Glentunnel, Sheffield, and Springfield areas. “We help provide reassurance to the local community, particularly as the rural area is large and Police appreciate the additional eyes and ears the Patrols can provide,” Harvey concluded.

MARIS EQUESTRIAN - EXCITING NEW BUSINESS
In 2021, an exciting new equestrian business opened on Maddisons Road in Templeton. It was Nicole Finlay’s love of horses, passion for teaching and educating that led her to open Maris Equestrian. Originally from Australia, Nicole is an established and accredited rider with many years of coaching experience. She has received training under international coaches from Australia and America while training for her coaching accreditations. She has worked and trained under an International Showjumper and spent time assisting in the management of multiple riding schools in Sydney, including MCEQ Riding School, before deciding to move to New Zealand with her fiancée Phil to start a life and business on their own ten-acre property. Maris Equestrian offers lessons to all ages and skill levels. Nicole will assess both the rider and horse for points to work on and provide a clear, structured approach to help the combination achieve their goals. Nicole has a small team of school horses which riders can use, or she is happy to teach riders on their own horse. Nicole’s vision is to bring a modern approach to professional coaching with attention to detail and focuses on the rider feeling independent and confident in their chosen discipline whilst having lots of fun. Lessons are 50 minutes for all ages, but Nicole caters for children with 30 minute lessons as well. There is also a unique opportunity for children aged 4-6 years, which includes a 20 minute kid’s pony experience (led pony ride and brushing). For those that don’t live in the Canterbury region, but want to benefit from Nicole’s knowledge and experience, she is also reachable through virtual tuition, using the same values as her physical lessons. This option is now available worldwide. Maris Equestrian also offers term packages for regular riders, as well as holiday programmes for children. Nicole also works closely with a highly qualified specialist team (from farrier to physiotherapists) to cater to all the needs of the horse and offer evaluation and advice.
