Your individual progress

Each student has individual needs and goals and at Malvern House we will work with you to make sure you get the most out of your course. This starts with pre-course learning advice and careful placement in a class of the right level. You will also receive a unique Malvern House Progress Diary, full of useful information, where you can set goals and record your progress with your teacher’s help during individual progress tutorials. There are weekly and monthly progress tests (in class and online) to consolidate learning and you have online access to your progress reports. Skills Options A flexible style of learning which allows you to modify your course before or after you have arrived. With the help of the teacher in identifying your needs to achieve your learning goals, we give you the opportunity to increase your studies as and when you want, with a variety of options to supplement your core course.

Conversation Improve your conversational English by practising speaking, listening, pronunciation and vocabulary. You will become more fluent and confident when speaking English.

Pronunciation

Writing

Speak more clearly and be easily understood. This module will also help your listening too and make you a more effective and confident communicator. You will learn the individual sounds of English and the other features of pronunciation, such as intonation and sentence stress.

Improve your writing for daily life and also for pleasure. Learn how to write formal and informal letters, emails and texts, stories and poems etc. The course will provide you with a model text and give you practice in the process of writing and awareness of the type of language used.

British Culture Working English

Learn all you need to find a job in the UK - writing CVs and cover letters, job applications, practising interviews to help you to get the job you want. Get practical information too on all aspects of work - tax, insurance, contracts etc.

Discover contemporary and traditional culture - the music scene, the monarchy, sport etc. Improve your vocabulary and practise your skills at the same time through interesting texts and discussion.

Summer School Language Explorer London In the summer months of July and August we run a summer school for students aged between 14-18 which gives an English Language learning experience integrated with discovering London and its truly unique character. With a course combining key English skills and activities, where students can use the target language in real practical situations, we give teenagers the experience of a lifetime. The summer school offers both individuals and groups an international environment to meet students from all over the globe whilst always communicating in English.

£990 per month is the recommended amount to meet your accommodation and living expenses in London.

There are many jobs in London for students in shops, cafes, restaurants, hotels and other areas. The minimum wage in the UK is £6.19 per hour if you are over 21 . If you have a Working Holiday Visa or a EU/EEA passport, you can get a job while you are in London. Students on a Student Visitor Visa, Extended Student Visitor Visa, or General Student Visa cannot work.

Accommodation When you come to London, where you stay is very important and we will guide you through a wide range of accommodation choices. Shared flats and student houses Budget and premium shared flats and student houses are available in zones 1-3. The flats are fully furnished and in good locations, close to transport links. You will share a kitchen, bathroom and other facilities with your housemates. A deposit of ÂŁ100 is required

Residences

A residence is a good option for more independent students. Conveniently located in zones 1 and 2, they offer a good choice of single or twin rooms all year round with shared or en-suite bathrooms and kitchens. Book early as demand is high, especially in summer.
