3. Fees (payable in advance per term) Fees for the school year are, for convenience, divided into three equal parts irrespective of the relevant lengths of the three terms. The obligation of the parent to pay the full fees, including the boarding element for the pupil’s last term, continues notwithstanding that the pupil may leave the school on completion of his or her public examinations.

5. HM Forces Fee Remissions The College is proud to support serving members of HM Forces.
The following fee remissions will be applied to the full boarding fee before the CEA is deducted. Additional financial support is available via a means-tested bursary.

Full Boarding at Malvern College – our Responsive Approach We are very proud of our traditional full boarding ethos at Malvern College; however, we recognize the need to be responsive in our approach and to support families with special requests for leaves of absence. Nights away from school should be the exception and not the norm. However, there may be occasions where there are valid reasons for parents requesting nights at home for boarding pupils. This may be for: •
significant pastoral reasons
•
exceptional family commitments
•
significant co-curricular commitment
In these circumstances, parents should email the HouseM at least one week prior to the event. This gives the HouseM time to consult with Senior Staff at the College and to ensure there are no clashes with school commitments which would normally take priority. Leaves of absence may be declined if pupils are behind with academic work or if they are not meeting other College commitments. We ask parents and families for their full support in helping the College maintain our full boarding ethos for the benefit of all pupils, and we strongly encourage all families to use leave outs, half terms and holidays for family commitments. In a typical year, approximately half of all weekends fall outside term-time (including leave outs and half terms) which gives a good balance of time in school and for time at home. In summary, we would like to ask for your support with the following requirements for leaves of absence from school for boarders: •
Please email the HouseM with requests for leave of absence at least one week in advance.
•
Leaves of absence may be granted for significant pastoral reasons, exceptional family commitments or a significant co-curricular commitment.
•
Teenage parties are not allowed during term time.
•
Birthday dinner parties are allowed for Sixth Form. These should be appropriately supervised and Sixth Form Centre alcohol guidelines should be followed. Guests who are boarding pupils should return to school by 10.30pm.
•
School commitments take priority. A leave of absence may be declined if a pupil is behind with academic work or not meeting other College commitments, Saturday night detention will take priority.
•
Malvern College has a full boarding ethos and so leaves of absence should be the exception and not the norm.
We hope that these guidelines will ensure fairness and transparency for all boarding pupils across all Houses and also strike the balance between supporting our traditional full boarding ethos whilst allowing responsiveness to individual and family circumstances.

Day Boarding at Malvern College – our Fully Integrated Model Our day boarding option will be introduced for pupils joining the Foundation Year in September 2021. The Day boarding option includes up to three specified nights of boarding per week. Each additional night boarding is charged at a reduced rate of £59 per night. Our day boarding pupils are fully integrated into the Houses and all pupils play a full and important part of life at the College, which helps create a thriving and inclusive community. Day boarding pupils and parents have access to an extended day where pupils can join the House from 7.30am and stay until 9.30pm and include three specified boarding nights. In summary, day boarding pupils should note the following guidelines: •
Day boarding places are limited and allocated on a first come first served basis.
•
Parents must indicate the specified nights pupils will be boarding in advance of the start of each term.
•
There are no refunds for unused nights.
•
Nights in school may be changed with the agreement of the HouseM.
•
If a day boarder stays overnight at the College for more than 55 nights in any term (not including the first seven nights of the first term) they will be deemed a full boarder and will be charged the full boarding upgrade retrospectively.
•
Breakfast and supper are included on all days.
•
Day boarders can join the House from 7.30am.
•
Registration takes place in House at 8.10am.
•
Day boarders who are not boarding overnight can stay in the House until 9.30pm and complete Hall in House.
•
Full boarding pupils, and then day boarding pupils, are given priority choice over rooms and bed spaces over day pupils.
•
Day boarding pupils who are joining the school for the first time will be offered additional boarding nights, included within the fee, for their first seven nights at the start of the Autumn term. This helps with making friends and integration into their House community.
•
Day boarding pupils have access to laundry facilities on the nights they board.
We hope our day boarding model supports pupils and families with balancing a school and home life by enabling the forward planning of nights away from home.

Day Pupils at Malvern College – our Extended Day Model Day pupils are very welcome at Malvern College and have access to many of the same benefits as our full boarders. Our day and boarding pupils are fully integrated into the Houses and day pupils play a full and important part of life at the College, which helps create a thriving and inclusive community. Day pupils and parents have access to an extended day where day pupils can join the House from 7.30am and stay until 9.30pm. From September 2020, for new pupils entering the College, our day fee includes a maximum of 15 nights boarding per academic year. Additional boarding nights can also be booked at a charge of £69 per night.
In summary, day pupils should note the following: •
Day pupils can join the House from 7.30am, however breakfast is not included.
•
Registration takes place in House at 8.10am.
•
Day pupils can stay until 9.30pm and complete Hall in House.
•
Supper is included in the fee.
•
Day pupils may only board subject to bed availability.
•
Boarding pupils and then day boarding pupils are given priority choice over rooms and bed spaces.
•

We hope our day pupils and their families take full advantage of our extended and fully integrated day model which offers access to many of our boarding provisions with the ability to go home each evening.
