Following their acclaimed performance of Mozart’s Requiem in Autumn 2022, Armonico Consort return to Malvern with Mozart’s other large-scale sacred music masterpiece: The Great Mass in C Minor. Written in 1784 Mozart had, at the time, immersed himself in the music of Bach and Handel and the work’s big choruses and grand, ‘operatic’ solos reflect their influence. Also on the programme is Bach’s celebrated setting of the Magnificat, which he composed for Christmas 1723. Amongst the most dramatic and beautiful settings of the text, Bach’s multi-movement setting combines sublime solos with exciting and virtuosic choral writing. SHAFFER’S SUBLIME THRILLER IS A MASTERPIECE OF PLOTS... CRACKING ENTERTAINMENT THAT WILL APPEAL TO EVERYONE.
Todd Boyce (Coronation Street’s notorious baddie, Stephen Reid) and Neil McDermott (EastEnders, The Royal) star in Anthony Shaffer’s masterpiece, directed by award winning Rachel Kavanaugh.
A young man (McDermott) arrives at the impressive home of a famous mystery writer (Boyce), only to be unwittingly drawn into a tangled web of intrigue and gamesmanship, where nothing is quite as it seems…
This dark psychological ‘thriller about thrillers’ makes for an intriguing study of human conflict, jealousy, and manipulation. Proving to be far more than a ‘whodunnit’, it promises to baffle even the most proficient sleuth!
Sleuth is one of the greatest ever stage thrillers and played for a total of 12 years in both London and New York. Winning the Tony Award for Best Play, it also became the inspiration for the hugely successful film starring Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine.

John Singer Sargent:
Fashion & Swagger
John Singer Sargent is known as the greatest portrait artist of his era. What made his ‘swagger’ portraits remarkable was his power over his sitters, what they wore and how they were presented to the audience. Through interviews with curators, contemporary fashionistas and style influencers, Exhibition on Screen’s film will examine how Sargent’s unique practice has influenced modern art, culture and fashion.
Michael Sheen plays Nye Bevan in a surreal and spectacular journey through the life and legacy of the man who transformed Britain’s welfare state and created the NHS.
Confronted with death, Aneurin ‘Nye’ Bevan’s deepest memories lead him on a mind-bending journey back through his life; from childhood to mining underground, Parliament and fights with Churchill.
Written by Tim Price and directed by Rufus Norris (Small Island), this epic new Welsh fantasia will be broadcast live from the National Theatre.

Deliciously naughty and outrageously silly, this timeless comedy is a masterclass in social satire and the art of gossip. Featuring an unforgettable cast of larger-thanlife characters, each armed with a lacerating wit, The School for Scandal is one of the greatest comedies ever written.

Paul Potts, the Welshresiding tenor, is living his dream. Bullied and taunted at school, singing in the local church choir proved to be a sanctuary for Paul. Listening to La Boheme at aged 16, Paul fell in love with opera, a romance that was to set him on a turbulent journey that would eventually lead him to win the first series of Britain’s Got Talent in 2007. Truly a life-changing event, Paul released his multiPlatinum debut album One Chance that year. Since Paul’s BGT win, he has released a further six studio albums. Paul’s upcoming album Musica Non Proibita, due September, is a double album of arias that Paul performed during his ‘At Home’ sessions during lockdown.
Paul will be bringing his new From the heart UK Tour to Malvern on 25th April 2024, don’t miss out on what is sure to be a night to remember!

“You see this creature with her kerbstone English … Well, sir, in three months I could pass that girl off as a duchess at an ambassador’s garden party”. With these words the arrogant and eccentric Professor Henry Higgins, expert in phonetics, strikes a wager with his friend Colonel Pickering that he can transform the speech and behaviour of the Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle. Higgins single-mindedly pursues vindication but what is the true cost of victory?
First performed a century ago, Pygmalion is full of Shaw’s characteristic wit and humour. Perhaps his best-known and most enduring play, it was the inspiration for the film comedy She’s All That and for the musical My Fair Lady.
Malvern Theatres Stage Company and Director Nic Lloyd present their second major production, following their success with A Christmas Carol in 2022. Pygmalion will be staged ‘in the round’ in the new Studio One.

Starring Matthew Cottle, Debra Stephenson and Ryan Early
A hilariously acerbic new comedy by Michael McManus, the writer of Maggie & Ted, directed by Joanna Read.
Starring Matthew Cottle (of BAFTA nominated BBC sitcom Game On and Channel 4’s hit comedy The Windsors), Debra Stephenson (Bad Girls, Coronation Street) and Ryan Early (Coronation Street, The Archers), Party Games! puts political leadership on the ledge and goes inside the chaos of government to see whether advisers do advise and if ministers can decide.
This is the UK, 2026, John Waggner newly elected leader of the hastily formed centrist One Nation Party presides over a hung parliament, a discontented electorate and striking cheese makers.
He and his power-hungry MPs must cling onto authority through whatever shaky means possible. Can one man, a Svengali spin doctor and some dodgy data unite the country? And what role can his wife, the King and a large spider play in keeping the lights on? Age Guidance 12+.

The nation’s twelfth-favourite doctor brings his brand new show to Malvern, fresh from a record-breaking run at the Edinburgh Fringe and a sell-out season in the West End. This is Going to Hurt was a literary sensation, selling three million copies and becoming a multiBAFTA-winning BBC series. Undoctored follows on from This is Going to Hurt, leaving audiences laughing and crying with Adam’s unique tales of life on and off the wards. It also contains the ‘degloving’ story because people ask for refunds if they don’t hear it.

In 1954, comedian Tony Hancock burst onto the BBC with a comedy show unlike anything the British public had experienced before. Surrounded by a stellar cast including Carry On greats Sidney James, Hattie Jacques and Kenneth Williams, the series proved just as successful when it transferred to television. Hambledon Productions are delighted to be recreating three, ‘lost’ episodes from the original television series. Missing from the BBC archives, this UK Tour will mark the very first time these hilarious scripts have been brought to life since their original broadcast. Commemorating 100 years of Tony Hancock, and 70 years of Hancock’s Half Hour, take a trip to 23 Railway Cuttings, East Cheam and join Kenneth, Hattie, Sid and ‘The Lad Himself’ for three classic TV episodes of this groundbreaking, timeless comedy.

ROOM 101… BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU… SUPER STATES … THOUGHT POLICE…
The novel which has most influenced the 21st century is brought to the stage in a thrilling new version by Ryan Craig.
On 4th April 1984, Winston Smith, comrade 6079, starts a diary. In a world where every action is painstakingly monitored and controlled, this simple act puts Winston’s life in jeopardy. A clandestine love affair with co-worker Julia further enrages the authorities, but can they truly trust each other? And what of the mysterious O’Brien? Will he help them overthrow the regime, confront them with their most terrifying fears, or worse…?
Shocking and fantastical when first written in 1949, Orwell’s novel has remained one of the most chillingly prescient novels of the last century. Ryan Craig’s recent work includes Charlotte and Theodore. Nominated as Most Promising Playwright at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards in 2005, he has gone on to win acclaim for The Holy Rosenbergs and Our Class at the National Theatre, The Glass Room and Filthy Business at Hampstead Theatre.
Director Lindsay Posner, one of the UK’s most sought-after directors, comes to Malvern fresh from the West End transfers of Noises Off and A View From The Bridge.

The 20th anniversary production of Alan Bennett’s brilliant modern classic, winner of 30 major awards, and voted The Nation’s Favourite Play in 2013. A-Level results day. Cutler’s Grammar School. 1980s Sheffield.
Eight unruly teenagers burst into adulthood with the best grades their school has ever seen, but their sights are set on something higher: to study at the most famous academic institutions in the world – Oxford and Cambridge. But their teachers can’t agree how best to tutor them. There’s Hector, the maverick English teacher who believes in culture for its own sake; Irwin – the shrewd supply teacher full of soundbites; Felix – the headmaster obsessed with league tables and Mrs Lintott – the History teacher who thinks her colleagues are all fools.
THE HISTORY BOYS follows this bright bunch of boys in pursuit of sex, sport and a place at university, lifting the lid on staffroom rivalries and the anarchy of adolescence.
This timely revival, directed by Seán Linnen, asks what is the purpose of education? And who is it for?
‘HOW VERY PLEASED I AM THAT THE HISTORY BOYS ARE STILL HERE TWENTY YEARS ON FINDING A NEW AUDIENCE. “PASS IT ON” IS HECTOR’S MESSAGE – I HOPE THE PLAYGOERS FEEL THE SAME!’ Alan Benne “INTELLIGENT, WITTY AND HILARIOUS. PASSES WITH FLYING COLOURS” The Times
