Encasing architec ture
We are ex tremely proud to be suppor ting Malone RFC, who have played such a significant role in the rugby community both locally and nationally for over a centur y.
At this time, Walsin and Malone make a great team as both are aiming high; Malone on their rugby journey and Walsin experiencing unprecedented growth to become one of the largest facade companies in Ireland.
I have always had an interest in the spor t, having played for my local club for many years and was delighted to be asked to get involved with Malone. Staff members regularly attend home and away games and there is a real buzz in the company around the club’s recent successes.
So far we have been delighted to play a small par t in the club’s ongoing refurbishment programme and will continue to suppor t Malone RFC as it goes for ward.

Well
folks here we go again, game three of the Energia All Ireland League !
This Autumn weekend we are hosting our friends and rivals from down the A1.
A big Malone welcome to Banbridge RFC, their President Alec Waugh, his officers and all suppor ters ,friends and parents. The latter was included by special request of a Banbridge parent, Mrs Finnegan, to show Joe that she cares. There you go Claire !
Our last game, hard to believe that it was a week ago, was at Templeville Road against St. Mar y ’s. I t was a hard fought game and I was so proud of our staff and squad.
We never lay down or gave up and ever y Player from the youngest ‘cub’ to the ‘old contemptibles’ gave all they had and more. Big Eagle castigated me for k illing his call in the 78th minute (continual updates) but we were on the move again and got a reward for perseverance with a late tr y. Never Say Die ! Always an exciting day in Templeogue with the Red Socks!
I t was a great adver t for the amateur game and I’m really pleased to see the ‘newbies’ combining so well with the ‘Old Dogs’. Two points on the road, away in Dublin is not to be sniffed at by anyone with an k nowledge of Section 1B
I’d also like to welcome Banbridge Barbarians to Daddy Winkers today.
I t is truly inspirational to see all involved, giving of their time and providing a ver y positive outlet for men who have moved on from the Age Grade set ups. To watch the games on YouTube in June, streamed from the MARS World Cup in Cork was like a breath of fresh air. I was par ticularly struck by Niall Rainey ’s award (‘Spirit Player of the Tournament ’) as I’m well acquainted with him and his family
I do not overlook or ignore the dedication of all involved and well done to you all. We are proud of the ‘ Tornadoes’, what they do, what they achieve and what they represent. Like a broken record player I again appeal for Volunteers in all sections and areas. Please, please join Friends of Malone or pay your Membership. Get on the link for joining and keep us with our heads above the waterline
A timely reminder please as to the ‘Code of Conduct ’ . The referee, his tfficials and all visitors are welcome at Gibson Park. The game couldn’t be played without the officials and we will continue to show them respect at all times. Let ’s all enjoy the game and have an injur y free afternoon .

Our visitors today Banbridge RFC
Banbridge arrive at Gibson Park today on the back of a good home 14 13 win against Old Belvedere and a narrow 26 20 loss to Highfield in Cork They sit in eighth place on five points, one place ahead of Malone in ninth on two points. This early season Ulster derby is impor tant for both teams as they will want to star t to climb away from the bottom end of the table, a position both were in for most of last season. Bann have Ulster players Greg Jones, James Humphreys and Ben Carson in their ranks and are captained by club stalwar t Peter Cromie and coached by Mark McDowell. Banbridge RFC was formed late in 1925 and spent the next 72 years in the ranks of Ulster junior rugby, with mixed for tunes, highlights being Towns Cup wins in 1932 33, 1988 89 and 1992 93. Their greatest cup success as a junior club came in 1990 when captain John Best lifted the Junior Cup for the first and only time in the Club’s histor y Tyrone Howe, later to earn fame as captain of Oxford University and with the British and Irish Lions, Ulster and Ireland, raced 60 metres for the winning tr y against RUC.
By the mid 90’s thoughts turned to the All Ireland League which was opening its ranks to successful Qualifying Clubs. However it was not until the 1998 99 season that they finally took their place in the AIL and have maintained that status ever since.
Banbridge is extremely proud to have members who have represented Ireland; namely Tyrone Howe (also British and Irish Lions), Simon Best and Ror y Best also a British and Irish Lion and more recently James Hume, Eric O’Sullivan and Nick Timoney
Banbridge club captain Peter Cromie. Our visitors today are Banbridge RFC for an Energia All Ireland League Ulster derby.MALONE RFC CODE OF CONDUCT

The weather just wasn’t on our side and by the end of the event ever yone was pretty much soaked to the skin glad to make their way home - didn’t stop this lot from smiling - well par tly any way!

Fueling Malone
It is great to be back at Gibson Park this af ternoon af ter our trip to St Mar y ` s last week where the boys showed great charac ter to come away with two losing bonus points.
I t was a disappointing star t to the second half where the game got away from us, but the spirit shown was a big positive going into this weekend. We are all excited to welcome Mark McDowell and the whole Banbridge squad who have made a good star t to their own campaign and with it being an Ulster derby there should be that added edge and physicality to the game. Training numbers have been ver y positive over the past number of weeks and with no 2nd XV games to prepare for it has been encouraging that the whole senior squad has bought into the planning for today. Hopefully we will see the benefits of this in an 80 minute per formance from the 21 selec ted for the game. Thank you for coming out to suppor t the club in what should be a crack ing game and I hope to see many of you in the clubhouse after wards including all the Banbridge suppor t who have made the trip up the A1.
