Few people realize the art about television screenwriting. It’s a talent, as is writing a novel or directing a movie. There are many things to consider -- the audience’s interest, how many cliffhangers to set up, adjusting to the loss of a crucial actor. These are all factors that are very challenging to keep up with, especially in this day and age. But with the overwhelming influence of corporations comes the ultimate power of the networks, which is taking away the quality of television. More, new shows are losing steam quickly, wasting potential, and are failing to live up to their legendary predecessors.

hink back at the first sci-fi or fantasy television series you remember watching. Perhaps Lost, Heroes, Alias, or, if your parents made you watch some older television like mine did, any Joss Whedon series. Now think of today: FX’s American Horror Story is currently made of 26 story-packed episodes -- many of which vacationed for several weeks in December, leaving their viewers biting their nails for the next episode in January. By the beginning of Whedon’s second season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it had already surpassed the story content of AHS -- which is an extremely successful series, from the standards of critics and many viewers. But what would happen if the story had nine more episodes
