PROGRAMME SUGGESTIONS Programme 1 A klezmer journey: Irresistible energy and soulful melodies and songs spirit you from the Baltic to the Black Sea, London to Melbourne, New York to Galicia. Programme 2 To the tavern: A klezmer band arrives in a middle-European country town at dawn. 24 hours of musical adventure follow. EDUCATIONAL WORK

The London Klezmer Quartet (LKQ) was formed in 2009 by a group of klezmer specialists keen to explore the almost-lost wedding music tradition of Jewish eastern Europe. The band plays all over the UK, has toured Australia six times, and performs at festivals and venues of all sizes in countries including Belgium, Brazil, Germany, Latvia, New Zealand, Norway, and Sweden. LKQ has released four well-reviewed recordings and makes regular media appearances in print, live on the BBC, and on ABC Australia.

LKQ offers: • interactive klezmer music and dance workshops for all ages and abilities; • colourful pre-concert talks setting out klezmer’s historical and musical context; • klezmer lecture/recitals.

“This is a quality group… While the arrangements are acoustic and traditional, the playing is energetic and fresh.” Evening Standard

“Earthiness, profound melancholy and celebratory joy.” Sydney Morning Herald
