Letters to the Editor It Does Not Have to be “ME TOO” Dear Editor: Many women are coming forward saying "me too." I have been asked by many readers to write an article regarding what we have learned from Harvey Weinstein and his behavior. If you don't agree with me please don't attack me for my opinions. Harvey Weinstein, is a man. By nature, men chase women and want to have sex with them. Judaism is aware of man's nature and speaks vehemently regarding human behavior. Many women state that they can dress any way they wish and flirt all they want and when they say "no" it means no. The problem is men and women are not the same. Men are from Mars and women are from Venus. Jewish law prides itself upon its laws of mod-

esty. The Rabbis understood the different nature of men and women. Men must be taught from a very young age, by their parents, that women must be respected. Women must be taught by their parents, how to stand up to men and even physically defend themselves and how to judge a man regarding his values and respect for women. It is important for women to understand they cannot change the basic nature of a man. Unfortunately many men and women feel that by using their sexual prowess they can gain access to power and wealth. In the end, their reward might turn into a hell of degradation. Sincerely

The Tolls on the Tappan Zee Bridge Dear Editor: TANSTAFL - There ain't no such thing as a free lunch or in this case, construction of a bridge. At the end of the day, someone has to pay. The Citizens Budget Commission report projects that tolls on the new Tappan Zee Bridge will likely increase from $5.00 to $10.50 after 2020 should come as no surprise. It confirms what I previously predicted. Governor Cuomo made a cold political calculation by promising not to raise the tolls when running for another term in 2018 or President in 2020 (the world's worst kept secret). To pay back the $1.6 billion dollar federal loan and $1 billion New York Thruway Authority Bond which helped finance the new $3.9 billion Tappan Zee Bridge, tolls will have to go up by double or more over several years. The well respected Moody's Investment Services previously estimated the tolls will go up to $7.60 by 2021 and $15 by 2026 for the Thruway Authority to be able to pay back both the loan and bond. This is on top of Cuomo still owing

$5.8 billion toward fully funding the $32 billion MTA 2015 - 2019 Five Year Capital Plan. Add an additional $1 billion he pledged in response to this past summer's NYC Transit subway and LIRR Penn Station problems. Construction costs for the new Gateway Tunnel connecting New Jersey to Penn Station is $29 billion. Cuomo committed contributing 25% of the total cost, but has yet to identify the source of his $7.25 billion. When it comes to paying for all his promised transportation projects, Cuomo reminds me of Wimpy who famously said "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today." It is a safe bet that taxpayers and commuters will be paying higher fares, taxes and tolls in coming years to cover the costs. Sincerely,

Larry Penner (Larry Penner is a transportation historian and advocate who previously worked 31 years for the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Transit Administration Region 2 NY Office).

Is the ACLU in Favor of the BDS Movement? Dear Editor: I recently saw an article entitled “ACLU Sues Over Kansas Law that Targets Israel Boycotts” and it goes on to say that the American Civil Liberties Union has filed a federal lawsuit challenging a new Kansas law prohibiting state contractors from participating in boycotts against Israel. Here is the ACLU joining in with other foes of Israel such as the Mennonite Church (USA), the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the United Church of Christ in supporting the BDS movement in this country and around the world. But don't for a moment think that there are no "Jewish" groups opposed to anti boycott laws that call the boycott of Israeli made goods illegal. The offensive front line of these groups in support of the Palestinian goals of suffocating Israel are the usual ones such as J Street, Jewish Voice for Peace, T'ruah and Americans for

Peace Now. And keep your eye on the ADL which is also opposed to legislation to penalize businesses and groups boycotting Israel. Once considered a pillar of the Jewish community, this now Progressive, George Soros controlled group is not just standing back --- it has been opposing such laws. In a press release calling ADL's opposition to such legislation "misguided," the Zionist Organization of America is charging that this "Jewish" group (ADL) "has repeatedly harmed anti-BDS efforts by publicly opposing and lobbying against needed anti-BDS laws." So, when reps from the ADL come to your community attempting to raid your wallet by claiming to be all things Jewish and pro-Israel tell them to take a walk. Sincerely

Standing Strong with Nativ Ha’Avot Dear Editor, On Oct. 22, 2017, the Israeli Supreme Court handed down a dismissive, derisive, intolerable decision in the case of Nativ Ha'Avot, a community in the Gush Etzion region, declaring that its homes are to be destroyed by March 2018. All pleas, all possible accommodations, all concessions, as well as the Knesset's Regulation Law forbidding the destruction of Jewish settlements, have been swept aside by the Supreme Court with the cruel, demonic ruling that the homes must be destroyed. Jewish Home Chair and Education Minister Natali Bennett is crusading for a "Basic Law on Legislation" which will include the "cessation clause." This will give the Knesset the ability to keep its laws from being annulled or overturned or ignored by the Supreme Court. We applaud his efforts. Bennett used the Supreme Court decision in the case of Nativ Ha'avot, as being "puzzling, and outrageous and causes unnecessary destruction with no logical purpose...

There is a serious injustice here." Americans for a Safe Israel/AFSI will be visiting Nativ Ha'avot on its Chizuk mission this November. As we have done in Gush Katif, Ofra, and Amona, we will add our voices to those denouncing the absurd situation. We will join with the 17 families whose homes primarily are located on state land, with only a very small part touching a farming area whose ownership remains to be proven. Udi Regonis, spokesman for the community, has stated, "We are alumni of Amona and Ofra.. We cannot tolerate the discrimination and prejudices demonstrated by the court...It's ridiculous, absurd and irrational." We agree, and urge everyone to contact PM Netanyahu to voice outrage at this absurdity. pm_eng@pmo.gov.il. Sincerely,

Helen Freedman Co-Executive Director Americans for a Safe Israel/AFSI
