Marsh mulls recount in ward 2 school committee election By Barbara Taormina two-vote margin decided the race for the Ward 2 School Committee seat, but a request for a recount might be in the works. Challenger Robert McCarthy, a career and vocational counselor for the Wakefield School district, came out on top Tuesday with 421 votes to incumbent Emmanuel Marsh’s final tally of 419 votes. Recounts are not automatic, and it is up to Marsh to request a recount within 10 days following the election. “I’m in the middle of thinking about it now,” said Marsh during a telephone interview Wednesday afternoon. McCarthy’s campaign also highlighted his Malden roots. “My family has lived in Ward 2 for more than 100 years,” he said. Both his father and grandfather served on the City Council.
