Revere softball team looks to younger players By Julian Cardillo
R
evere’s Joe Ciccarello is getting set to turn in his hockey jersey for a ball cap, as he does every year. The Patriots’ softball coach is looking forward to the new season, which starts on April 5 at home
against Chelmsford. Revere has built a strong program over the years, and Ciccarello has shown he can get players up to speed quickly, which will be necessary in 2018 given that nine varsity players have matriculated. “It’s an inexperienced, young
team, but I’m excited to start fresh with a new program,” Ciccarello said. “We’ve had a lot of success over the last eight years; we’ve built an athletic group. Sometimes inexperience got to us, but if we take care of the basics, we’ll do fine.” One of the few returning
players is junior pitcher Olivia McManus, who ate up countless innings for Revere last year. “It starts with her,” Ciccarello said. “She’s had two years of varsity experience. She’s been to the tournament and knows what needs to be done at this level to make the tour-
nament again.” Additionally, Victoria Correia is back to play third from last year’s 13-7 team. “We’ve got some experience coming back, but it’s going to be mixed in with some inexperience from the younger kids and new faces,” Ciccarello said.

chemistry this year. Growing up with a father that worked in medicine has caused Robert to develop a passion for the field at a very young age. He desperately wanted to follow his father’s path, but he wanted something different – something more. Eventually he found what he was looking for in Pharmacy, a major that uses his strong math and science
abilities and is in relation to his father’s work. At this time Robert is weighing his options in regards to college, but he is strongly considering Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences as their strong Doctor of Pharmacy program shows much promise in aiding him to achieve his goals. In his four years at RHS, Robert has made friends and con-
nections that will last him a lifetime. This school has helped Robert sharpen and enhance his STEM skills along with making him a more adept writer. RHS has been a factor in who Robert has become. After his years in Revere are over, he hopes to become very successful in the Pharmaceutical field and give back to those who aided him most – his parents.
