By Julian Cardillo he Revere softball team is headed for the post-season in strong form. Revere knocked off Swampscott, 8-5, on Wednesday night to close the regular season at 135. Victoria Correia was one of the stars of the Patriots’ offense, her two-run home run paving the way for another Revere win. “We lost nine of 13 players from last year’s team, but we ended with the same record,” said Revere coach Joe Ciccarello. “That goes to show the level of talent and quality of kids we have in our younger program as well as our returning leadership … I couldn’t be more impressed with our younger kids, who have stepped up in a big way.” Danielle Dion and Olivia McManus both had RBIs, while Lynzie Anderson converted two bunts and had a pair of stolen bases against Swampscott. On the mound, McManus allowed just three earned runs and pitched a complete game. Ciccarello also singled out the performance of Alexis Iacoviello behind the plate. “Alexis Iacoviello is truly a special player and kid,” Ciccarello said. “We haven’t missed a beat there, if anything, all said and done, she will go down as one of our better catchers we had here, up there with Jules Cecere, who is playing college ball now.” The Patriots are now turning their attention to the post-season. Seedings come out over the weekend and Ciccarello is hoping for a deep run. “The playoffs will be tough,” he said. “Playing in the best division in the state – there are so many top level teams. We are young and inexperienced but hungry and talented. Regardless, I love this team. Every player is a total team player and cares more about the team than themselves and it shows.”
