Dear friends, Greetings from the Main Street Arts Council! We hope you enjoy viewing the wonderful videos produced this summer in our restructured 2020 Main Street Summer Theater Festival! As the saying goes, “When life throws you lemons, make lemonade!” That has certainly been one of our many mantras this summer as we worked to navigate the “new normal” of our world in an effort to keep everyone healthy and safe during these crazy times.
Main Street Arts Council presents
THE 2020 VIRTUAL MAIN STREET SUMMER
THEATER FESTIVAL
When faced with the pandemic, we knew deep down in our hearts that “the show must go on…” “But how?,” we often asked ourselves. Well, suffice it to say, necessity is truly the mother of invention and we couldn’t be more pleased to present the fruits of a wonderful, albeit different, summer experience for your enjoyment! We owe many debts of gratitude to our staff, choreographers, interns, parents and participants for taking a chance with us in the new realm of virtual theater, as well as our grant funders and other donors for their steadfast support of our mission to provide arts and theater opportunities in northwest Kansas, even during times of pandemic. In fact, the arts have proven themselves never more important, especially during the times of shelter-in-place we all experienced earlier this spring. Again, we share our gratitude to all involved for helping us move forward with our festival this summer. We hope you enjoy viewing the videos from our dance program, monologues and skits and the two full-length plays we produced, with the more than 80 participants from the seven participating counties and their respective surrounding areas. We hope you are as inspired as we were by the participants who joined us on this journey growing in their theater and dance development overcoming the obstacles encountered along the way. Thank you, and enjoy! -Karl Pratt Executive Director Main Street Arts Council

OUR STAFF & DIRECTORS
BONNIE CAMERON KARL PRATT
Creative Director and Founder of MSAC
Executive Director of MSAC Bonnie Cameron studied Vocal Performance at the University of Colorado, Boulder and finished her master’s degree at the Hanns-Eisler Conservatory in Berlin, Germany. She was a member of the Bavarian State Opera House Opera Studio and sang professionally in Germany for 10 years at the Bavarian State Opera House, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Opera Leipzig, Komische Oper Berlin, and the Prague National Opera. A native of Hoxie, Karl Pratt graduated from Fort Hays State University in 2014 with a B.M. in vocal performance. He was a member of the FHSU concert choir and elite Fort Hays Singers during his student tenure. He has extensive musical and opera credits to his name. Favorite roles include Nicely Nicely Johnson in Guys and Dolls and Mitch Mahoney in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Opera credits include Nemorino in The Elixir of Love, The Witch in Hansel and Gretel, Pierre in The Wandering Scholar, the title role in L’orfeo, and Cedrick Prestwich in The Impresario. Karl began studying piano in 1998 under Carol Kliewer, Grainfield, until 2000, when he studied with Sharon Kriss, formerly of Colby until his graduation from high school in 2006. He continued his studies in college with Tali Morgulis, the late John Huber, and Irena Ravitskaya.
In 2011, Bonnie and her husband, Carloff, returned to Northwest Kansas to pursue her true passion for bringing culture and high quality learning/performing opportunities to rural Kansas. She opened her studio, The Living Room, in Hoxie, and currently teaches over 40 students weekly in Hoxie and Atwood. In 2014, Bonnie established the Main Street Arts Council to continue to promote the arts throughout the region. And, as of August 2019, Bonnie has been serving as the K-5 Music Teacher at Golden Plains Elementary School in Selden.
Karl enjoyed learning more about “how the other half (non-performer) lives” when he served as stage and music director of Hays Community Theatre’s production of Mary Poppins in 2017 and music director of Dreamwork’s Shrek The Musical in 2016. He returned home to Hoxie after 12 years in Hays, most recently serving as the communications coordinator at the FHSU Alumni Association. He has taught private voice and piano lessons since 2010 and, in the fall of 2018, opened studios in Hoxie, Colby, Goodland and St. Francis.
JAN MOORE
Regional Office Manager
Karl also serves as board liaison to the Sheridan County Community Foundation. Jan Moore joined the Main Street Arts Council staff in March 2020. OUR CHOREOGRAPHERS
Ashley (Penner) Coberly is originally from Manhattan, where she studied at Kansas State University, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree. Ashley was employed by the City of Manhattan as a Recreational Coordinator at Manhattan Parks and Recreation. There, she helped organize and implement summer theatre and dance programs. In addition, Ashley was a Body Pump and advanced water aerobics instructor for UFM. In December of 2011, she moved to the Missouri Flats area and married Adrian Coberly. Her passion for dance, fitness, and arts didn’t stop there. In the fall of 2012, Ashley started a small dance company, Schoolhouse Dance, at the Missouri Flats schoolhouse with only three dance students. During that time, she was the Quinter High School play director from 2013-15 and completed her Barre Forte (ballet fitness) certification. Over the years, Ashley’s dance company has evolved; she offers fall to spring classes and a summer dance camp.
ASHLEY COBERLY
5–7 Age Group Choreographer
Last year, Schoolhouse Dance company consisted of 19 students. Her styles range from beginner to intermediate ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and a combination of modern and lyrical dance. Ashley continues her dance education and practices through Boulder Jazz dance workshops, online dance courses, and offers Ballet Barre fitness classes to adults.
SKYLYNNE FULWIDER

Skylynne Fulwider grew up in Aurora, Colorado, and has danced since the age of 3. As a child and teenager, she trained at Miller’s Dance Studio in ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, hip-hop, lyrical, and modern. Starting in middle school, she was a part of the studio’s performing group and had roles in each of the spring recitals. Sky went to Smoky Hill High School, where she was a member of the Pom-Poms Dance Team, and was part of the high school’s dance company. She continued to dance at the studio, and also decided to share her passion by teaching beginning combo classes. After graduating, Sky moved to Kansas and earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Fort Hays State University. Sky has been a dance teacher for the past six years and in 2018, she opened All-Stars in Motion Dance Studio so that she could continue to share her love of dancing with dancers of all ages! Sky is married to her husband Chris, and together, they have three children: Paige, Analeigh, and Lincoln. This is her third year choreographing for the MSAC Summer Theater Festival, and she cherishes the time she can spend with the youth and the relationships she has been able to form with them.

13–18 Age Group Choreographer
Nicole Weigel, who is originally from Russell, has been involved with dance for 23 years. She has danced competitively around the country in places such as Branson, Missouri; Las Vegas, Nevada; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Kansas City, and Omaha, Nebraska. Questions? Nadine Sigle K-State Research and Extension, Community Vitality nsigle@ksu.edu 785-346-6256
