Whether you are installing asphalt pavement for the first time or want to install on distressed driveways, you should remove the dirt or existing surface. This can sometimes will be done through some crew using small tools and sometimes you should use heavy machinery because crews can’t remove doing it by hand.

#Step 2: Grading and Sloping –

You should use updated asphalt patching techniques to prepare your surface for the appropriate water drainage because water can be the main reason for distress. Potholes and cracks can also be formed by the water when it seeps inside your driveways. So, water drainage system is must to prevent water to stand on the driveway when you are getting asphalt pavement.

#Step 3: Prepare the Sub Base –

You may never get the reason behind this but if your base is prepared well for the asphalt pavement then your driveway can get an extended life. If the base is not compacted and stability is not there then it might not support the weight of a vehicle. Your driveway can get as long life as much it would be thoroughly compacted.

#Step 4: Proof roll, Undercutting, and Sub Base Repair –

Once your base is fully compacted and stabled then you have to take the next step.  Proof rolling is the step which makes your surface even stronger to support asphalt pavement.  Undercutting is used to repair soft spots.  By using undercutting process we can remove the soft soil which is inside the main base and fill that with a hard material to make it withstand new asphalt pavement. This creates a sub-base.

#Step 5: Binder and Surface Course –

Once the base and the sub-base is prepared then add the binder to your specified surface. Binder makes your surface strong and extra durable which gives strength to the asphalt surface.

#Step 6: Install New Asphalt Surface –

Once the first 5 step is completed with precision then the time comes for installing the top layer of asphalt. This layer is installed to get a smooth driving experience. Material is prepared with small aggregates such as stone, sand, and gravel, mixed with asphalt cement. Smaller aggregates give a smoother driving experience.

#Step 7: Butt Joints and Transitions –
