Several members of the STEM Club participated in Young Astronauts Day at NASA. w Seniors Rachael Powers and Brittany Cahill finished 3rd overall in the Robotic Elevator Competition. w The Mars Wheel Challenge was completed by Claire McCabe, who won an honorable mention award for the most creative design. w Also participating were sophomores Caroline DiMarco and Abby Norris who completed the Rocket Simulation.
ATHLETICS
w Tennis – 2016 OTCA Division 1 State Champions! Magnificat defeated Mason by a score of 3-1. It is the first Tennis State Championship for Magnificat since 2009. Anna Roggenburk ’19 finished as the State Runner Up, and the doubles team of Molly Bauer ’17 and Ana Lopez ’17 finished in 3rd place. w Gymnastics – 2017 State Runner Up! Julia Pompeani ’19 was 2nd on the bars, and Emily Connor ’19 was 3rd on the vault. A total of seven girls competed in individual events at the State Meet. w Swimming finished in 12th at the State meet. 200 medley relay team (Alana Cartwright '17, Grace Monroe '18, Kathryn Presley '18, Taryn Zwissler '17) finished in 5th place and set a new school record. Taryn Zwissler '17 finished 3rd in the 100 Backstroke. w Basketball finished 10-14 overall on the season and made it to the District Semi-Final w Indoor Track & Field had nine girls compete at the State Meet at Akron University, highlighted by Adelaide Aquilla ’17 finishing in 3rd place both in the Shot Put and Weight Throw (she set a new school record in Weight Throw). w Bowling finished in 4th place in their Sectional, and Kelly DeGross ’18 qualified for the District Tournament.
