On ne peut aller au Panama sans passer voir le célèbre canal, merveille d’ingénierie et d’architecture qui a eu 100 ans en 2014. Comme il ne répondait plus à la demande en raison des navires de plus en plus grands et du trafic maritime à la hausse, il a été agrandi de 2009 à 2016. L’élargissement du canal est considéré comme ayant été l’un des plus gros chantiers de génie civil au monde. Selon l’American Society of Civil Engineers, le canal de Panama est l’une des sept merveilles du monde moderne.

One cannot be in Panama and not visit the renowned Canal, a true marvel of engineering and architecture that celebrated its 100th birthday in 2014. Since it no longer adhered to the standards allowing increasingly large vessels and a growing maritime traffic, the canal was widened between 2009 and 2016. This expansion was considered the largest civil-engineering construction site in the world.
