Delivering dream homes Ten years is a milestone worth celebrating for any company, but for local firm Swish Builders it’s a natural evolution resulting from doing a job and doing it well. A carpenter for almost 20 years, director Willy Thomson completed his apprenticeship locally before heading off overseas to get a broad depth of construction experience. “Towards the end of that time, all I wanted to do was come back to New Zealand and start building architectural homes,” he says. “That became my focus and we started the company 10 years ago, getting our first break building a fairly large architecturally designed house at the top of Mt Pleasant.” With a continued focus on high-end residential housing, Swish Builders specialises in complex hill sites, with the team’s well honed ability to complete interesting new builds that present a challenge in terms of their design and unique architectural features. “When we started out the ambition was always to build high-end architectural houses,” Willy explains. When the earthquakes hit, our focus did shift to earthquake repairs as required however, those repairs were mainly large scale, complex projects that required a high level of expertise and skill. As those projects have been completed, our focus has shifted back to architectural homes.” The company also carries out renovations, extensions and maintenance. “Over the last 10 years we have developed a true understanding of what it means to
