J’ai alors commencé à peindre mon propre visage, d’où mon nom d’artiste : Alex Face. » Cherchant sans relâche de nouveaux spots, rencontrant sans cesse de nouvelles personnes, Alex a le sentiment de faire quelque chose de vraiment spécial : « depuis lors, je n’ai jamais cessé de peindre, dans la rue, mais aussi sur toile. J’ai étudié l’art et j’aime produire, peu importe le support, le média. Actuellement, je ne peins que cet enfant, Mardi, avec différentes techniques... »
JUSTEMENT, D’OÙ VIENT CE PERSONNAGE DE MARDI ?
A la naissance de ma fille, me retrouver face à ce bébé m’a fait réfléchir sur le futur, sur son avenir à elle. J’étais un jeune père, sans argent, sans réel emploi, j’étais inquiet. Par exemple, dans ma ville d’origine, Chachoengsao, lorsque j’étais jeune il n’y avait que des rizières, des fermes… En 20 ans, cette ville a énormément changé, on y voit prin-

Where did precisely this Mardi character come from?
Upon the birth of my daughter, finding myself face to face with this baby made me reflect on the future, on her future. I was a young father, without money, without a real job, and I was restless. In my hometown, Chachoengsao, there were only rice paddies and farms when I was young. Over 20 years this town has changed tremendously, and now one sees mostly factories.
