May is the month to recognize the crisis of foster care: National Foster Care Awareness Month. There are a lot of statistics to make people pay attention to the need. I think it’s more important you hear the stories: A newborn baby, born 8 weeks early, who will be released from the hospital to a foster family. The silver lining is that he will be in the same home as his big brother. A 12-year-old boy whose parents died and was going to be adopted by his uncle, until his uncle also passed away. A teen-age girl who had been adopted but whose adoptive parents changed their minds,

forcing her back into foster care. Kids to Love has been able to make a difference in the lives of each of these children, along with thousands more. If your heart is moved to help, I invite you to visit our website kidstolove.org. You’ll see amazing youth on the “Meet Our Kids” page. And if you’ve ever thought about becoming a foster parent, we can help with that too! All the information you need is under the tab titled “Who We Are.” Our mission at Kids to Love is simple: meet the needs of foster children. There’s no better month than May to help us do just that.
