The Grumman F9f8 Cougar is a single-seat carrier-based fighter aircraft developed by the Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation and used by the United States Navy and Marine Corps from 1952 to 1959. The Cougar was the last fighter jet to be built by Grumman before moving on to jet fighters with the introduction of the F-14 Tomcat. Designed as an allweather interceptor, the Cougar boasted an impressive top speed of 700 mph and was able to deliver 7.5G turning forces in a fighter takeoff class.
