MACMURRAY COM The College’s 168th annual Commencement ceremony was held on Saturday, May 19, in Annie Merner Chapel. Dorian Warren, president of the Center for Community Change and Community Change Action, gave the keynote address, encouraging the graduates to “embrace the unexpected, and find beauty in the twists and turns” of life. The Class of 2019 included 114 graduates. This year’s senior class speaker, Clifford O’Rourke ’19, a business major, thanked everyone who helped him through his time at MacMurray. Ashley Huels ’19, a biology major, was awarded the Gwen Livingstone Pokora Academic Excellence Award for achieving the highest standard of academic excellence in her graduating class. Dr. Matthew Wiediger, associate professor of psychology, was awarded the United Methodist Board of Higher Education Award for Teaching Excellence for the 2018-19 academic year. Khara Koffel, professor of art, was awarded the Dewey Wilkins Teaching Award, which goes to a full-time member of the faculty who has shown excellence in teaching.
