ABOUT US

MacCormac College is an accredited non-profit higher learning institution located in downtown Chicago with a 110-year history of providing its students with an exceptional education. We are a college of firsts: MacCormac established the Court Reporting major in 1912 making us the oldest Court Reporting school in the nation and we were the first college in Illinois to offer a Paralegal Studies program. Our school draws students for more than its Court Reporting and Paralegal Studies programs; since its induction in 1904 the college has grown to include associate degrees in a number of traditional tracks, with its newest programs being. Criminal Justice and Entrepreneurship. In all courses of study students receive a comprehensive education unparalleled by any other two-year college. Our instructors, staff and administration are dedicated to every students’ success at MacCormac and guide them to a degree that will positively impact them for the rest of their lives. Our mission is to challenge students to excel in their academic and career pursuits and prepare them to be lifelong learners and responsible citizens in a global society.

Our Success

Last year’s donations have afforded us the opportunity to achieve consequential milestones in a wide array of areas that benefit our students-academically, professionally and personally. • MacCormac invested a significant amount of resources in reallocation of campus space during 2014’s build-out and infrastructure reorganization through the use of grant funding and donations. Students were given two new lounge areas with ample seating, counter space and refrigerators; two classrooms were created to meet the growing student population, and additional space was created for two student computer labs. The build-out included technological improvements in the form of countless new computers and the most up-to-date court reporting training equipment. • As part of MacCormac College’s dedication to technological and innovative advancements, nearly all textbooks are now offered through an electronic platform using Cengage. The new E-book program provides a fast and sustainable way for students to receive all required textbooks on the first day of class without delay. Our students are taking advantage of this newly instituted program and its monumental cost savings, convenience of compatibility with all electronic devices and significant online learning supplemental resource tools. • MacCormac kicked off its online education program in 2014, offering general education courses through a distance education model. MacCormac now offers online courses in each program of study. Online courses allow students increased flexibility in scheduling and have proven highly beneficial to the MacCormac community. The online education leaning modality has since gained popularity and over 40% of students are enrolled in at least one on-line course. • The Center for Academic Personal and Professional Excellence (CAPPE), a student-focused center designed to guide each individual through every stage of his or her education, was launched in February 2014. CAPPE enhances MacCormac’s ability to provide cutting-edge, holistic programming and services, enrich the student experience and empower students to graduate and excel in the workforce. An original concept in the community college environment, MacCormac’s CAPPE success center is the first of its kind. The extra help and support students receive through CAPPE distinguishes MacCormac as an innovator in student services and development. • Resulting from donor contributions, MacCormac students were privileged to be involved in many important professional events that will impact their careers as they move forward to graduation. Utilizing donated funds, the College sponsored eight students and one instructor to attend the national conference of the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) in San Francisco. To further enhance the academic experience of the Court Reporting students, MacCormac sent nine students to the Illinois Court Reporters Association (ILCRA) Convention. These conferences are held every year and attract the largest gathering of court reporting professionals in the nation and the State of Illinois. Donating to MacCormac supports the students. Donating ensures that the improvements we want to continue to make on their education happen without interruption. You are becoming a part of our students’ lives.
