Starting in the late 50's with Motown founder Berry Gordy, Jamerson was launched into a catacomb of recording sessions playing on songs such as "Stop In The Name Of Love", "My Girl", " Heat Wave", "Sugar of Pie Honey Bunch", "Baby Love", "Dancing In The Street", and thousands of other Motown related hits. James Jamerson embarked on a long career of studio session that would play out until his death August 2, 1983. Jamerson was Motown's only bass player until 1967, playing on every Motown hit song by every hit artist. Even after Motown moved to California and started using other bass guitarists, Jamerson maintained a devotion to the company for most of his professional life.
