In heaven, the person with apples asked the person with cherries "why did you start laughing at the tenth cherry? You were almost there". The person replied, "I saw the third person come out with pineapples." ¾ Stereotype and insider jokes. We laugh usually because we know something is not true and sometimes we laugh because we realize that the description is exactly right. We find it funny because “it was not supposed to be like that, but it is indeed like that!” (if you know what I’m talking about.) Again, conflict. Such stereotyping jokes can be simply created by telling the plain truth, as Mark Twain said, “Get the facts first. You can distort them later.” ¾ Superiority, stupidity, absurdity. These perhaps belong to an altogether different category of reasons for laughter. Here we laugh because we feel good about ourselves, such as when we compare ourselves to stupid acts or absurd ideas. This is also why we don’t tend to laugh (as hard) when stupidity befalls on ourselves.
