MUSEUM CENTER BLÅVAND

2500 m2_ COMMISSION CLIENT _The Museum of Varde City & Vicinity Museum Center Blåvand integrates four independent institutions: a WWII bunker museum; an amber museum; a local history museum; and a gallery for special exhibitions. The existing bunker, a relic of WWII, sits in a nature preserve that prohibits construction, however an opportunity arose to build into an artificial dune, created during wartime to transport guns to the bunker. Four simple incisions into the topography create a sunken, central courtyard for the museum; as the dune rises around the site, footpaths plow straight into the landscape to allow access by foot. The courtyard is a point of connection amongst the four museums and is also the beginning of an underground exhibition tunnel leading to the restored bunker. The new intervention is the antithesis of bunker architecture; it is vacuum rather than volume, and transparency rather than heaviness. It is a new architecture of a light that simultaneously treats the historic site with sensitivity but also injects elements of surprise and discovery as the journey down into and through the new museum unfolds before its visitors.

KLIMAHUSET, OSLO

COBE

Competition CLIENT _UiO Naturhistorisk museum, Oslo Located in the Tøyen’s Botanical Garden, the competition brief, encourages the design of a iconic 21st century museum, yet a fundamental reflection of the park’s landscape and a great empathy with the existing historical buildings. It is this delicate balance what drives the sketch process, resulting in a simple, functional and characteristic architecture. Our ambition was to create a dynamic meeting place for sensory experiences and exploration of the solutions to current climate issues, the Climate House is to inspire visitors and the general public to change towards a sustainable way of life.

Observerer og

The Climate House, is especially, a place for reflexion. The hole in the ceiling frames today’s weather out and is an invitation to observation, and appreciation. In the lobby there will be 4 large transparent columns filled with moving and color-rich air. They represent the principal elements that scientific uses to study climate evolution (light, precipitation, greenhouse gases....). So the building is, literally, the filter that helps us to understand the Climate and the human impact on the environment.

PASSER INN I OMGIVELSE

Situasjons Plan 1:500

MAISON DE L’ÉCONOMIE CRÉATIVE ET DE LA CULTURE EN AQUITAINE 12350 m2_ COMMISSION CLIENT _ Conseil Regional d’Aquitaine This project brings together three cultural institutions into one building: the Maison de l’Économie Créative et de la Culture en Aquitaine—the MÉCA. Programmatic requirements defined by each school shape the MÉCA; the building is a loop, skewed and distorted to accommodate performance and backstage spaces, storage and archive rooms, and art galleries. The loop also frames a central, public space—an outdoor “urban room”—and opens the MÉCA towards the city of Bordeaux and the Garonne River. The “urban room” becomes a luminous frame for the vibrancy of Bordeaux and on special occasions, turns into a stage for performances, a screening surface for installations, and an open space for the urban life of Bordeaux to flow through and engage with the arts.

CHRISTIANSHOLM ISLAND CLIENT _By og Havn and CĂ˜ P/S The vision for the project is to create a series of new halls for informal, public functions such as an event hall and a swimming hall. Private housing will be placed on top of the halls which encircles a green and intimate courtyard. The whole island will be flanked by a unifying public promenade. The existing vivid public life is balanced with the private life of the future inhabitants to make the island attractive for visitors as well as local residents During 2018, COBE has been running a series of workshops the requirements for the construction project of the island. After the development of the local plan, this phase contains studies of the floor plans and areas, placements of functions, room heights, disposition of stairs and cores, determined for parameters such as apartment sizes, and fire strategy. We are developing different facade solution to accommodate the diverse typologies granting character and a unique identity to each of the buildings.

Existing halls

+ 1. Halls The new buildings are inspired by the existing industrial halls at Christiansholm, manteing the same tectonic and langage as ”building machine”.

2. Warehouses From the local plan: ”Development in the area must be based on the character of the buildings along the harbor, and must be designed and presented as a new interpretation of Holmen’s and Christianshavn’s warehouses”

ARCHITECTURE PRINCIPLES

1. Open gables

2. Monolithic expresion

3. Caracteristic features for every cluster

East/West facade are light and transparent.

Througout the roof to the vertical facades and arcades, the architectonic expresion and materiality is the same.

Every cluster holds different progams and it will have a unique facade traitement creating diversity within the a coherent ensemble.

SCRIVENER SQUARE, TORONTO Competition CLIENT - Diamond Corp How can we create a new housing development at the Scrivener Square site, that fits into the diverse and distinstive context of Summerhill and at the same time enhances the existing qualities of the immediate surroundings?

We answered that question dividing the tower into two interlocked elements: the podium that gets its architectural language and scale from the brick surrounding buildings, and the tower which architecture relates to the North Toronto train station clock tower, creating a new housing development on top of a new vibrant public space. The tower divided in 4 volumes and the crowns in different heights defines the new addition of the Toronto skyline and stands as a unique landmark at the Summerhill subway stop.

STETTIN 7

18600 m2_ COMPETITION Stettin7’s site is an urban peninsula within a larger park setting. It is bounded on three sides by park and harbor with the only connection to built urban fabric to the north. Other buildings in equivalent positions along the park are cultural or institutional; they create social programs that increase public life and activate the areas around the park. By virtue of its catalytic position along the park, we have an unspoken opportunity and responsibility to create a generous urban condition, that will improve the urban space and public life. The courtyard typology generates a foil to the surrounding landscape - an intimate park within a park. Another category of elevated green space is created in the roof, by literally lifting the building from the park fabric.

Big was commissioned to design Dortheavej in 3013 by the Danish non-profit affordable housing association Lejerbo, it was asked to create the much needed public space in the area while keeping the pedestrian passageway open and the adjacent green yard untouched. DUAL GL. HOLTEGAARD Temporary pavilion. Competition

CLIENT _Gl. Holtegaard Museum (Holte, Denmark) Dual is the last winning of the three-year exhibition series Pavillon I-III - New architecture in the baroque garden of Gl. Holtegaard. The task was to create an artistic architectural space for the baroque garden, which freely interprets the theme of scenery based on Gl. Holtegaard’s history as home of Ludvig Holberg’s comedies, masquerade and the idea of the garden - and the world - as space for (self) staging. Dual is a self standing staircase, shaped as a perfect circle in plan that rises 2.5 meters from the ground. Halfway up, the platforms created in the middle of both arcs, and on the top, give the double staircase an overall sculptural expression as one big scene. Scenery is a simultaneous and very simple interpretation of the often magnificent staircase architecture from the baroque, where the stairs were used as scenes on arrivals and departures for major events in the substantial and powerful buildings.

LOMA SOMERA 350m2_ COMMISSION How can we renovate a 200 year old house without compromising the users comfort? In the structure of the house was easy to read three different parts, corresponding to 3 extensions that occurred in different times of the house history. What we found when we come into the house for the first time, was a collection of spaces disconnected to each other and laying in many different levels. So the main focus of the project was giving a continuity creating several architectural promenades that link to all the spaces of the house.

SINGAPORE TOWER 93 000 m2_ COMPETITION CLIENT _Capitaland Located in the heart of Singapore financial distrid, the 280m tall tower, transforms the site of a former car park complex built in the 1980s. The building’s exterior façade consists of vertical elements that are pulled apart to allow glimpses into the green oases blooming from the base, core and rooftop. At the ground floor, visitors will be met by a public rainforest plaza and park, with garden paths and covered passages leading into the City Room, a 19m – high generous open space at the foot of the tower. The first eight floors of the tower are dedicated to a 299-units serviced residence including a wide range of facilities. The top 29 floors of the tower offer premium office spaces . At the core of the building between the hardscapes of the offices and residences are four connected levels of organic soft-scape, called the Green Oasis- a mesmerizing 30 open- air garden for work, casual strolls, relaxation, exercise and events.

METZLER TOWER

Shifting Terraces 56

65.000 M2 m2_ COMPETITION Frankfurt is a unique urban setting that combines the classical European perimeter block city with high-rises forming a vibrant cluster in the city centre. We propose a tower that is derived from a careful study of the site and program, and as a result creates a strong presence both on street level and in the skyline. The program is a unique mix of two types of offices, residential, and public program. Each part of the height of the tower has its own constraints and potentials. The tower reacts to the constraints and potential of each specific height and program, creating a silhouette that is both rational and sculptural. The tower is articulated as a slender and rational stack of inhabited floors, interrupted by two sculptural moves where the program changes. At street level, the floors are shifted back and forth to create inhabitable terraces and canopies facing the park. In the middle of the silhouette where the program changes to residential, the floor plates slide out in a spiralling movement creating terraces and views up and down the streets for the residents. In the upper part the tower returns to the simple stack of floor plates epitomized for offices.

BIG 03. October 2016 To whom it may concern, I am pleased to offer my recommendation for Ms. Maria Teresa Fernandez Rojo. Teresa has worked at Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) since April 2013 as an architect, and I have had the oppor‐ tunity to get to know Teresa in my capacity as the partner‐in‐charge of a project for a mixed‐ used tower in Singapore that is currently in the detailed design phases. Teresa has also collabo‐ rated within the office on numerous other ongoing projects representing a spectrum of typolo‐ gies and in various phases of design such as a mixed‐use tower for Frankfurt, the Blåvand Bun‐ ker Museum in Western Denmark, Maison de l'Economie Créative en Aquitaine se dévoile (MÉCA) in Bordeaux, and Stettin 7 residential development in Stockholm. Teresa has a well‐rounded set of skills (from 3D modeling, drawing, and visual representation), as well as a professional attitude and focus on the tasks at hand, frequently under heavy time pressure. Her positive can‐do attitude and sense of responsibility makes her a true pleasure to work with, and allows her to quickly become an essential player within the team. In addition, Teresa’s ability to work independently and strong problem solving skills has allowed her to be successfully involved in multiple project phases and especially in conceptualizing and imple‐ menting design intent sketches into detailed design drawings. I have no doubt that she will make a valuable contribution to any team or studio in which she chooses to advance her career. The following is a select list of key projects in which Teresa has assisted: SING Singapore Mixed Use Tower (Confidential Client) 2015 – present : 105,000 m2 : Singapore, Singapore Teresa worked on this project from concept through schematic design and was responsible for multiple major building parts and their development from initial design ideas through to im‐ plementation and communication with the internationally‐based client and consultant team. Teresa effectively put extensive and exhaustive effort into developing multiple solutions to a high level of resolution, within a tight frame. METZ Omniturm Tower (Confidential Client) 2015 – present (construction): 65,000 m2: Frankfurt, Germany She worked in this project during schematic design, being in charge of the residential section of the building, coordinating the efficiency and design of the apartments layout with the facade and structure solutions. MCB Museum Center Blåvand 2012 – present (construction): 120,000 m2: Billund, Denmark She was the architect in control of the drawing set and I produced almost all final drawings for the DD. She was also full integrated in design solutions starting from optimization of plans to contributing to design of the individual details. MECA Bordeaux Métropole Aménagement 2012 ‐ Present (construction): 12,350 m2: Bordeaux, France Teresa started in this project working as an design assistant, becoming architect after few months. She worked during the APD, APS, and APD phases.

I can only imagine that Teresa will continue to excel in every way possible. I have every confi‐ dence in her future, and I would like to give Teresa my highest recommendation. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any additional questions. Best Regards,
