Property from a Perthshire House This eclectic mix of furniture and works of art come from the estate of the late Ellen Broun, Camserney, Aberfeldy, with many pieces originally from two earlier family homes, Invery House, Banchory, and Stenton House, Caputh. Ellen Broun’s maternal grandfather, Major James Kerr, purhased Invery House in the early 1900s and lived there with his wife Violet (nee Neame) until 1961. The house was furnished in a traditional style with antiques suited to a Georgian country house. Major Kerr’s sister, Ellen, purchased the 500 acre Stenton Estate in Caputh, near Dunkeld, and with her husband James Dunn, filled it with exotic items collected from their travels through Europe and the Middle East. Major Kerr’s daughter Ellen, who married New Zealander Major Charles Passmore, later purchased Stenton and most of the contents from her aunt’s estate, moving there with their daughters in 1965. They added to the contents with items of their own acquired during their time in New Zealand. Ellen Broun, their eldest daughter, inherited pieces from both family houses, some having been in the family for four generations, and it is this unique collection being offered here for sale.
