One of these is Cork based Denis Twomey Transport Ltd who in 2014 is celebrating 40 years in business, a remarkable achievement by any standard. Located in Renanariee, Macroom in the heartland of Gaeltacht country, the business which also uses its Irish name Donnacha O’Tuama (Iompair) Teo specialises in the harvesting and haulage of timber. The business was set up 40 years ago by Denis Twomey who saw an opening in the market to provide a service for hauling timber, having worked for a number of years in Grainger Saw Mills. Having bought his own lorry, Denis started drawing timber for the saw mill and a few years later he added a second lorry to the fleet and continued to grow the business from there. The eighties were a tough time as not only was money scarce, but so too was diesel and for anyone in the haulage industry this made the situation twice as hard, but through perseverance and hard work, Denis and his wife Nora ensured that the business kept going. During this time, he and Nora were raising a young family with Siobhan, Denis Jnr, Richard and Mairead all now
