ROUND TOWERS This U13 Division 5 final at Grangegodden turned out to be a great game of football as Round Towers claimed victory after extra time, 1-15 to 3-8.

A

t half time Towers led by 18 to 0-6 but the game was turned on its head on the restart with St Cuthbert’s hitting three goals to level the match. The Round Towers defenders Liam Needle, Cian Lynch, Glen Farrelly, Turlough Carry, Larry Morgan were kept on their toes. When the full time whistle went the score was 1-12 to 3-6 and extra time was required. Round Towers were first off the mark with a point from Sean McGee and only some stout Cuthbert’s defending stopped Kyle Dardis, Stephen Collier, Mickey McNamee, Dylan Morgan and Nathan Osbourne adding to the tally, with midfielders Ciaran Morgan and Joe Carry delivering plenty of possession. Seconds from full time of extra time just as it was looking like a replay was on the cards the ball was fed in to Stephen Collier who put the ball over the bar to score the winning point. U13 AND U14 HONOURS Nathan Osbourne, Dylan Morgan, Ciaran Harkin, Glen Farrelly, Sean McGee, Harry McHugh, Oscar Rogan In April the Round Towers U14’s claimed the Division 6 title with a 6-7 to 6-4 win over St Vincent’s. The south Meath side opened the scoring with a goal but Conor Lynch replied with a Towers goal. From there to half time the Kells parish side dominated as the led by 3-7 to 2-0 at the break, with two further goals from James Hennigan.

With the midfield combination of Kieran Needle and Ciaran Carolan dominating possession of the ball, Kyle Dardis grabbed anther Towers’ goal.
