Responsible Dog Ownership, Gum Litter Campaign and Clean-Up Laois Week. The Council also work with many sectors, including local primary and secondary schools, by promoting the internationally recognised Green Schools campaign. Laois County Council’s annual Litter Challenge and Community Action Programmes have also proven to be a great success and have seen many areas designated as litter free during the course of the competitions. Another success story is Portlaoise Against Litter which is a joint initiative between local businesses in the county town, the Gardai, Vintners’ Association, Portlaoise Tidy Towns and Laois Tourism.
