of its earliest customers in Kerry and outside the county’s borders due to the efficient service it provides and its willingness to offer breakdown recovery on a nationwide scale. “My father first started out in mechanics after he had finished school and then eventually went out on his own and set up a recovery service,” explained Jason. “From then until now, the company has just expanded and grown from strength to strength, I suppose. We are still offering a breakdown recovery service across the country and we also have a garage here for repairs, with a holding yard here for cars and vans which we started to put to use a couple of years ago.” Clifford’s fleet is one which boasts top of the range DAF trucks which have made the 920km round trip up to Belfast to recover vehicles in recent years. The trip is just one of many which Clifford’s have journeyed in order to satisfy their customers. Jason elaborated: “We’ve four trucks, which are all tilt and slide trucks one of which is a accident unit. Three of those are DAFs which are a very reliable product and it’s a brand which we have always stuck with and the other is a MAN. We would recover vehicles nationwide and I’d say the furthest that we’ve ever went to do a run was Belfast a few years ago. He added: “Even this past Christmas we were busy enough in different parts. We would have been out on Christmas Day a few times at the end of last year, a lot of Clifford’s Garage is based in our call outs would have The Kerries, Tralee, Co. Kerry being to flat batteries and

When Jerry Clifford snr set up his business in what seems like a lifetime ago, he started from the bottom and worked his way up towards eventually becoming one of the leading breakdown recovery services in the Munster region. His background beforehand had been in mechanics and it proved a crucial trade to possess when he eventually went down the road he did, with his garage offering a repair service in which many locals availed of. To this day, Clifford’s Garage still experiences repeat business from some a good relationship between Clifford’s and Tralee’s leading crash repairs centres. Clifford’s Garage also boast a modern equipped workshop, where personal attention is guaranteed, which is one of the many reasons why the company experiences repeat business from its customers. Jason Clifford and his brother Jerry jnr are the next generation of the family set up to run things in this company which was set up over 40 years ago. “We’re based here in The Kerries, in Tralee county Kerry and we’ve been established since the early 1970s,” explained Jason. “We would employ just the three people here in total and I’m the Managing Director myself.
