It also strives to provide the highest level of customer satisfaction, meeting individual requirements and needs at all times. Daryl set the company up in 2001. How did that come about? “My father had a lorry all his life and I grew up in that environment. I used to go out on the continent with him even before I started school, when I was four.” Coming from that sort of background, it was almost inevitable that Daryl would himself develop an interest in the haulage sector. “I started out with one truck doing tipper work in quarries. After two years I had two trucks and within three years I was operating four and had started working for more quarry companies. “Then I got away from that altogether in 2004 when I started doing traction work out of Dublin Port.” Today, Daryl operates a fleet of 18 tractor units and over 30 trailers. Most of the work is nationwide but he does travel to the continent as and when his customers require, with one current contract involving the transportation of pharmaceuticals to Denmark. It would be fair to say that Daryl Curran Transport Services is a versatile operation. “There’s nothing we don’t do,” the founder confirms. “We’re predominantly in refrigeration but we also do container work, cutainsiders and also run tankers. The only thing we don’t do anymore is bulk tipper work. I’ve had enough of that.” The fleet comprises 90% MAN trucks. Why is this? “They are brilliant on fuel, are very
