to ensure that the customer hasn't a long wait for equipment. “ Health and Safety is paramount in this industry and to this end Donie and his team go to great lengths to make sure that all machinery is in proper working order. “We test and check every item of equipment for safety and functionality after every hire. It is in our and the customers best interests to make sure that all equipment is working well. Everything we hire and sell or if it belongs to you, we will fix and maintain. Donie admitted that his customer base expands beyond the Granard area as he has customers from Cavan and other areas also. “We cover Longford and surrounding counties. We have a wide range of equipment for hire

and we are continuously adding to that to make sure we have what the customer wants. “These new, exciting and safetyconscious products have been developed to maintain our quest to bring to you new and improved equipment that helps you to carry out your work quickly, easily, but above all safety.” Donie feels that the economy could take a while to get back on its feet and he fears for the youth of the country, who have been forced to leave the country in their droves. “You can't blame young people for leaving the country. Things are a lot tougher now than when they were in the eighties when we last experienced a recession. People are in bigger debt now and it is

a very tough time for everybody and it could take years for the country to get back anywhere near where it was. “It's just a matter of keeping the heads down and hoping that everything works out. We have no plans to expand any further for the time being. The tool hire end of the business is very quiet, but thankfully the stores are busy enough and long may that continue.” Donie is a proud Cavan man and hails from Lacken, although his GAA career ended in his teens, he would still like to see his native county back battling for major honours in the near future. “Cavan have gone through a good few lean years now, but there seems to be a lot of young lads coming through and hopefully it won't be long before they are winning again.”

Donie is hoping that young players like David Givney can bring back the glory days to Cavan football
