AN ALTERNATE PLAN

As we've seen, all of the designs for the Lutak Dock commissioned by the Borough over the years featured handymax as a design vessel. Therefore, we've never seen a minimalist plan that would demolish the dock and install four mooring dolphins capable of serving current users, not handymax vessels.

The Borough has said that demolition of the dock (as proposed in R&M's original phased design) would cost $4 million. Demolishing the decaying face of the Lutak Dock, reinforcing the pass-pass area, and adding dolphins to support current users could be components of a low-cost, long-term solution.

What You Can Do

Talk to your Borough representatives, write a letter to the editor, testify at upcoming meetings — the 95% designs will be reviewed at the Planning Commission meeting on June 8, 2023.
