Grizz ready Stump preps for one more year

LYNDEN – As Libby Stump gears up for one more season with the Lynden Christian girls basketball program, it’s hard not to look back on all she has accomplished with the Lyncs.

With one state championship under her belt and a combined record of 63-5 over the course of her career, Stump has been a key member to multiple power-

house teams.

“Winning the state championship my sophomore year had to be one of my favorite moments,” Stump said. “You look back on it and that was a week before everything got closed down. It’s just a really special moment that we got together.”

at year the team nished 27-1, reaching the program’s third straight state title game and winning their second during that stretch.

“It’s just amazing that we got that,”

Stump said.

One of the things that made that 2020 championship team so special was their close-knit team culture and drive to work together as a group.

Stump sees those same qualities in this year’s squad, even as the team lacks the on-court varsity experience of past years.

“We’re going to work so hard, and that’s what made that other team so special,” Stump said. “I think that team

chemistry and desire to work hard will be similar.”

As Stump moves into her senior season, she is already committed to her next destination.

She made things o cial with the University of Montana on Nov. 10, signing her national letter of intent to join the NCAA Division I program.

It was the people and goals of Montana’s program that motivated her to select them as her next stop in basketball and academics.

set in that she is heading towards playing Division I college basketball, but she couldn’t be more excited to suit up for the Grizzlies.

Like many talented high

school athletes, it’s been a dream of hers that is nally coming to fruition. e college experience presents opportunities for growth in many areas of her life.

“I just want to leave college being the best person I can be and the best player I can become,” she said. “I want to push myself to be to best I can be and Montana will help get me there.”
