Lynden LYNDEN

Who’s Who 2017

The Waples Mercantile Building is a prominent retail and dining hub in Lynden.

Stroll the heart of Lynden with no particular destination in mind — or have a plan to first explore the big-timbered Waples Mercantile Building and its amenities and then mosey over to the Jansen Art Center before catching a Lynden Dutch Bakery treat or a KATZ bookshop latte. However you slice it, an aura of leisurely enjoyment has returned to downtown Lynden.    2016 felt like the year it all came together. The rebuild of the former Lynden Department Store site was matched by final renovation of Dutch Village Mall and its iconic 72-foot windmill. Together, the two venues offer 42 beautiful rooms for restful lodging after that day of touring the town and its environs. (You can ride a bike for free if you’re staying in The Inn at Lynden.)    Indeed, the nationwide Independent We Stand folks thought Lynden worthy of being called #1 among America’s Main Streets, and the award, with $25,000 cash, was presented at a community celebration on the Fourth of July.    It was also a year to celebrate Lynden’s 125th anniversary. The greatest fun was to first create, and then consume, a 1,250-foot-long strawberry shortcake

Lynden We treat eye injuries, eye infections.
