Thinking Brain (Intro) There is a saying that
“Everybody is a genius but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree it’ll live its whole life believing that it’s stupid” - Albert Einstein (there’s no eveidence he said that by the way)
6
But what if I’m a fish that can climb a tree?
Basically, I’m a Multipotentialite*.
*A person with multiple interests
7
About me Hi, I’m Lydia Tan Hua Sian, a Graphic Designer and Illustrator. Take a look inside my brain.

Even the tiniest millimeter can mess with the structure in packagings. I take time to figure out the details.
Technical-minded
Before executing an idea, I test and run simulations in my head to figure out potential problems.
Interests Reading Painting I do watercolour and acrylic paintings
Only read non-fiction mostly these days.
Gaming An all-round gamer on pc or mobile.

Markings (Branding & Illustration) 13
Wall’s Cornetto Brand Revamp: full of surprISES A packaging revamp for Wall’s Cornetto ice-cream. The new look is- to reflect the Wall’s philosophy of “Live from the Heart!”, and it inspires people to be away from stress, seriousness, duties and expectations for a moment.
14
The Brief
The project requirements are to revamp the Packaging for Wall’s Ice Cream. Only one brand from this list of Wall’s ice creams are allowed: Paddle Pop, Magnum, Cornetto, Solero Split, Top Ten Choc Stick (Multipack Ice Cream Sticks), Vienetta, Wall’s Happy Cup, Wall’s Selection Carton Tubs and Wall’s Family Tub).
The Idea
Eating ice-cream don’t have to be limited to just eating it but it could also be a new experience everytime. The cone packaging has a hidden message inside which could be a joke, a surprise gift of an extra free cone or mere puns. The unwinding circular motion to tear off the cone packaging also symbolises unwinding, which is relaxing from stress. I went for a Fun and Cheerful tone for the packaging design. The Hand drawn doodle style is to give the packaging a “human” feel to it, as if someone doodled when they want to get away from things for a moment.
15
Each box holds 4 ice-cream cones.
16
How it works
The perforated packaging allows people to unwrap it easily. Every cone contains a surprise joke or even a free extra cone if they are really lucky, this was designed to make the someone’s day.
17
18
Little Desires illustration series I based this series on my day to day struggle of working and feeling tired, as well as the wishes and fantasies that I shape to escape reality. 19

Illustration for Coca-Coca Mash-up video The Brief The idea of this mash-up promo video is to have the Coca-Cola bottle in the center of the artwork while being in a totally creative environment. Artists are free to come up with creative ideas revolving around the Coca-Cola bottle. Glassfin will then make an edit to create one exciting & creative mash-up promo video. #MYMASHUPCOKE

Maggi Ad campaign Introduction Maggi is a well-known brand to all Malaysian households. From seasonings to sauces, instant noodles to instand fixes, Maggi’s range of products aim to make home cooking a pleasurable and delicious experience.
Brief You are required to pick from the range of products listed in the maggi family and create a set of 3 advertising visuals that would carry the single minded proposition and message of the brand.
Eating Maggi noodles makes you happy.
26
Chicken Flavour
Stack any amount of noodles that you like in your own bowl.
Idea Maggi noodles can be cooked any way you like by adding any ingredients to it. Therefore, the SMP that I thought of is “Your Food Your Style”, meaning that you can create or do anything with Maggi noodles, according to your style. Extra ingredients can be added to the noodles, and people can eat it any way they want.

Science vs arts Problem
Solution
Malaysian secondary school students have to choose their education pathway in their 4th year, either Science or Arts stream. The answers are obvious to some, but there are many who do not know which stream to choose as they do not know the courses and jobs that they can pursue in the future.
To allow students to understand the more about each field, both of the streams will be represented by a political party. They will campaign against each other to draw students to their side.
30
1. Team Science makes the first move Team Science starts the war by trying to attract students to their side by playing with the public misconception that jobs in Science pay more than arts.
31
2. Team Arts replies to the ad with fb canvas
Team arts shows statistics that liberal arts earn more than STEM jobs in the long term.
32
Facebook Live stream The debate is also streamed on facebook to allow students to view and comment on them.
33
4. Print ads
Both team releases a series of print ads to catch the interests of students to join their team. It informs students about topics and subjects related to the respective pathways. They can scan the QR code to view and engage with the content online.
34
Right: Scanning the QR code will lead students to more information about the topic online. Bottom: Many students wait at bus stops while waiting to go back, this gives them a lot of time to look at the ads.
35
Website The website provides information on the subjects in each stream, and it’s the education and job opportunities. After students have discovered their interests, they can choose to vote for the Team to be part of and receive a digital handbook on facts and tips related to the their subjects.
36
Collateral Some items such as t-shirts, badges, and notebooks are produced to allow students to express their choice and identity.
37
Short film: Persevere This is a short film project based on the theme lost and found. The Eiffel tower symbolises his dream to be an architect, he throws it away in frustration when he finds that he isn’t doing very well in his studies. His dream comes back to him again in the end.

Coffee table book: What’s that falling from the sky? A book about rain This volume is full of rain facts, not the boring facts related to rain speed, inches of rain per year and the sort. It is full of peculiar and impossible things falling from the sky. It throws at you lesser known facts about and related to rain, such as the colourful languages used to describe it, beautiful and awesome art works created by artist about it, eccentric umbrellas and even conspiracies about that rose due to man trying to control the weather.
“it’s raining pilot whales.” The illustration on the right is an idiom to describe rain in Faroese, which is “Tað regnar av grind”

experimental book: Journey through the key The Glowing phone book Concept
Every book starts from a word, and every word starts from a letter. This is a visual and typographical narrative book that is made from one of the 26 English alphabets, the letter G.
Idea
Based on the letter G, I thought of the word Glow and listed down objects that glow. To make things random, I combined my keyword ‘Glow’ with another friend who is doing another letter and another keyword. One of the combined words were ‘Glowing Phone’. With a random topic in hand, I researched and thought of objects or things related to the ‘Glowing Phone’.

tourGather: fLEXIBLE TOURS WITH AN EASE OF MIND Competition intro
This is a 24-hour hackathon challenge encouraging collaboration among Multimedia and Graphic Design participants from various backgrounds. We can design an app for anything to do with any of these topics, entertainment, e-commerce and education. The competition requires a team of 5 people to enter.
Team members
Eugene Tan Heng Kah Nathaniel Biancaputra Tan Min Ken Reagan Wijaya Lydia Tan Hua Sian
56
Idea
One of my team members have an experience visiting Cambodia, where there are many tour guides in tourist sites offering to guide him around in their three-wheeled taxi. But, he was overcharged after the tour. The tour guide quoted a price higher than what is agreed.
Solution
We decided to create an app that helps tourist ensure that they pay and get what is stated by the guides, as well as ensure that they offer their best services by providing a few incentives.
57
How it Works It works by allowing tour guides to create their own tour packages for private or group tours. Tourists can search for tours in their area and make a booking.
03.
01.
choose type of tours
login
The types that pique your interest.
02.
Find tours nearby 58
05. book tour View details and bok by choosing to pay with card or cash.
04.
Choose a tour
06.
Locate tour guide The app will guide you to the tour guide’s meetup location.
59
That’s not all This app to solves other problems such as tours having a very tight schedule which tourists have little time to explore in each destination. Not only that, TourGather was also made to benefit both tourists and tour guides. For tourists, it’s to ensure that the tour guides provide their best services. For tour guides, they will be able to create tour packges on the app and also have a steady flow of business.
Tourist benefits
Travel with other like-minded tourists Meet new people by joining a tour from the list offered by tour guides. The rates could be lower too!
60
Flexible schedules Tourists can request any changes to plans, such as changing a destination to another or staying in a place longer.
No forced shopping stops Tourists won’ t be forced to go to shopping stops where they’ll be pressured to buy things, as the tour guide’s rating will be af fected.
Tour guide benefits
Plan Based on Specialitie s
Higher Earnings
Tour guides will have the freedom to plan the tour based on their specialities - food hunting, photography hunting, historical sites etc.
By cutting the middleman (tour agencies), the percentage of money received per tour is vastly increased as the app only asks fo r little commission.
Price Ceiling
Every tour guide starts from level 1. This ensures a level playing field among tour guides, both veterans and the new ones. The new ones will be motivated to always do their best as well so they can level up and earn more.
