LHM: getting to know our partners We ask Amy Fischer, owner and principal designer of Spectrum Interior Design, about her full-service Silicon Valley firm. How did you begin in design? My enthusiasm for interior design dates back to third grade when I remember every Christmas and birthday I would ask for some decoration refinement to complete my bedroom. I made up my mind then to pursue my life’s passion in design. While earning my design degree, I was fortunate to begin my career early in high-end custom residential construction. For nearly 15 years I worked with premier home developer, Owen Signature Homes in my native town of Los Altos, designing and crafting luxury spec and custom client homes. Through this experience I garnered my foundational expertise in high-end construction administration, project management and client service. What led you to begin Spectrum Interior Design? Our new-build clients were continually requesting additional services and wanted to see my vision fulfilled all the way through to the finishing touches. In 2012, I founded and named the firm “spectrum” to encompass and deliver more fully the array of services our clients were seeking. What are your clients typically seeking in design? Our Silicon Valley clientele is extremely sophisticated and their design needs are ever-expanding! They come to us not only for creative design solutions, but for the guidance and education to create Amy Fischer Owner & principal designer the lifestyle they aspire to achieve. I listen very closely to understand Spectrum Interior Design their current needs and help them anticipate their future needs. This may be anything from creating a private sanctuary away from the rapidly changing world of technology to considering indoor/ outdoor entertaining and hosting opportunities. In the Silicon Valley especially, our clients are driven to continually improve and raise their standards. Participating in our clients personal growth and elevating lifestyles is a true passion for me! What does it mean to ‘elevate your lifestyle’? It’s about living your best life and achieving your dreams. This seems to look different for everyone. For some it means having a home they can be proud of that reflects personal accomplishment and for others it may be creating tranquility and reprieve. It’s about continually pursuing more joy and pleasure in life.

How are you applying this concept of elevation to your firm? Inherently I am always looking for ways to refine and improve our offerings. Last year we launched our own private collection of exclusively curated home decor and seasonal accents. I named the brand ‘Spectrum Fine Living’ to enhance the lifestyles of our clients through their evolution. Traveling countless design markets has really broadened my exposure and more clearly defined my personal interpretation of luxury. How do you define luxury? Luxury is the sum of many parts. It’s the feeling of unparalleled comfort, every desire fulfilled with absolute ease. Luxury is surrounding yourself in the highest quality of living. How do your custom client homes compare to the luxury spec homes you design for purchase? There are many similarities in our design approach. Whether a homeowner, investor or developer, the motivation is the same: design smart and invest the money where it will be most appreciated. Two decades in new home construction and a diverse client base gives us insight in marketable trends. Our goal is always to create homes that are unique with high attention to detail and superior craftsmanship. What makes your firm unique? We aim to be the one stop resource for every design and comfort need, not just for a single project but for a lifetime. Our clients may begin with us designing their dream home but later we will design their vacation home, investment property, and even yachts! In between those projects, we refresh accessories seasonally and for some, decorate their homes for Christmas annually! Our clients consult with us for party planning, organization needs and home care referrals. There are no limitations in what we do to design a quality life! What has been your greatest learning experience? Drawing from my 20 years of industry experience, I realize that design is so much more than finish material selections and creative solutions. A new home brings amazing opportunity for personal expression! Participating in the design is just part of a thrilling journey, and the real reward is when our clients feel themselves reflected in their new home! What is the signature aesthetic of Amy Fischer and homes created by Spectrum Interior Design? Our interiors are warm and inviting, timeless and classic. We favor sophisticated color palettes, luxurious textures and interesting material combinations. Naturally serene, beautifully understated.
