What sports did you participate in at Luther College?
What sports did you participate in at Luther College?
I played basketball, rugby, water polo, and football. I didn’t start playing football until 11th grade as my 10th grade season was cut short due to a back injury.

How did Luther’s sports and academics prepare you for university and a career? Being involved in sports introduced me to a lot of people who would become lifelong friends. Being on the same team connects you to other people through so many unique and challenging ways. It really allows for bonds to be created with people who you might have never otherwise met. Sports at Luther really taught me about community, respect, and being a good teammate.
No one was bigger than the team, and we were successful in my senior year at Luther because everyone understood and respected each other’s roles. I could rely on my friends in tough times on the field and off the field which really gave us a close-knit sense of community and respect. These have carried on throughout my college and professional career.

Luther College has a long and proud tradition of athletics and I still carry with me. I am forever grateful for the teachers and volunteers who spent so much time with me and my friends on our teams during my high school years. The Luther experience was the foundation of who I am today as a professional athlete. From the tough football practices on the grass field across from the school (and the countless laps around the blocks!) to the old Luther gym and the history that building holds, I wouldn’t change my Luther College High School experience for anything.
