BLUE.

Why is blue your favorite color?
“What we love, we mention.” “Then I must love you because I mention you all the time.” ―Marie-Helene Bertino
I don't like red, I offer.
But what I don't say, is that blue is the color of my best friends eyes That when she smiles they sparkle like stardust And it's the most beautiful thing I think I’ve ever seen. Blue is the color of my mother’s favorite coffee mug My father’s softest sweatshirt My brother's starched neckerchief, knotted with gold.
Blue is the walls of my childhood bedroom The paint that stains my desk The polish on my nails, somehow always chipped.
Blue is the color of the lakes, rivers, oceans A compilation of every body of water I have ever swam in Laughed in, cried in, drowned in.
My past, present, and future All shrouded in a blue haze When I die, the dust I return to will be the color of stars.
I just don't really like red.
